I have used the wrong side of a 14''x7'' stretched canvas. I added thick board dividers to make compartments.
I painted the whole thing in a soft suede brown to get a vintage feel..... combined with traditional greens golds and reds. The main image of the Madonna and child is a recycled Christmas card that i cut down, stamped and embossed the edges.
I used a small ornament 'faith'.... and various Christmassy bits and bobs........ that i embossed in a mixture of gold and copper embossing powers to keep to the overall colour theme.

I love natural elements at this time of year, so i have included tiny pine cones and some greenery....a miniature pale green candle on a tiny cut log..... an Angel offering a gift..... a harp type instrument..... i used a pretty sheer decorated ribbon to edge the entire canvas...as it allows the paint colour to show through.... i even used the dreaded glitter.
Sorry about the picture overload but there is so much to see.... and this took me most of the day!
I know you're all wondering ...'WHY did the dragon do this..... well my two little girls are so full of 'Mary and Jesus' i thought they might like it..... and they do...so if they're happy...i'm happy!

ReplyDeleteLynx,
ReplyDeleteThis is truly inspirational! Your art work is just so fabulous! Your funny "i even used the dreaded glitter." as I quote you LOL! You used a beautiful image of Madonna and child. Nice stamping on it too! I am astounded at your attention to detail. Every item placed, stamped, glued, embsossed, or your pretty sheer decorated ribbon. I so love the fact you said why you made it and I love your answer, you said you made it for your girls because it made them happy which makes you happy. What we wont do for our babies ungh? I know I am like a lioness w/my cub lol. You are so creative to link to turn around a canvas piece and add thick board dividers to make compartments. Ummm YOU that who! Love it!

Kristy

This is stunning and I love the art piece you created. I also love that you mentioned it could offend some...so many people want to say Christmas is for kids and put Mickey in Santa gear...yuck....I hate that. I consider myself more spiritual and hate political correctness. I cringed when I heard a co-workers kid was playing Tiny Tim in Scrooge but they changed the line "God bless us, everyone" because it could offend...They changed Dickens! OK I rant...Love the intricacies of your "card". It is beautiful but all your works are-very refreshing, creative and artistic!
