"CASE a Minion"

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece

that has been CASEd from one of the Minion's DT offerings. 
CASE = Copy And Steal Everything 

 I have altered a small square jewelry box.....i covered it in black patterned paper and 3 coats of varnish, added a dimension skull SMEARED INK....the links on my side bar....(6x layers fussy cut and dipped in my 'pot) flowers, gold leaves and fancy ribbon around the edge.... the bracelet has skulls on too.... This was made for a friends Grand-daughters 16th birthday.... hope she liked it?! Please go check out the challenge... you dont have to case my project.... i doubt anyone would want to.... you can case any of the minions.

DELICIOUS DOODLES

We have a new challenge for you starting today and its BINGO....

I went with flowers, image and punches.... actually made the flowers using punches...so might have cheated? 

I used the gorgeous image 'waiting' from DELICIOUS DOODLES..... well 2 of the 3 ravens.... i had to cut it down a bit to fit...sorry Teri.
I coloured mt images with promarkers and ink.... stamped my sentiment on denim blue card stockk....matted it onto black card.....quick and simple.... but thats because i am the worlds worst card maker.

SMEARED AND SMUDGED BUNNICULA INSPIRED HOP AND SWAP

BUNNICULA INSPIRED HOP N' SWAP!

Well i'd never heard of BUNNICULA until Tori chose it as the theme for this hop and swap.... so i got to thinking..... what shall i make? Below is what i came up with......

 A small altered doll in a bunny suit..... and a handmade notebook with hidden pockets for ATC's.

The dolls face and hands have been repainted, the eyes swapped for black beads, a little bib has a SMEARED INK bunny image on it. The front of the book has the same SMEARED INK image, 6x layers fussy cut, layered up with silicone and dipped in my melting pot.

 The ATC's are all one off's ....vampire bunnies i drew for this hop.... the book has pages for you to write on, that i stamped, matted and layered.

 This is baby benny..... in his vampire bunny suit.... the bib is to stop is bloody dribbles ruining his sleepsuit.
Below is the dipped vampire bunny on the cover of the book..... cute hey?
I hope my swap sister likes these things and can handle the cuteness..... mind you the doll is pretty scary if you ignore the bunny suit!

SMUDGER CHALLENGE and DRAGONS DREAMS

I had a little play yesterday and made a couple of tags..... the one above is for the 1st ever challenge  at SMUDGER CHALLENGE BLOG http://smudgerchallenge.blogspot.co.uk/  .... owned by my buddy Andrea, who is an incredibly multi-talented minion at HDH ..... the challenge theme is FEAST OF FOOLS.

Now over at DRAGONS DREAMS  http://dragon-dragonsdream.blogspot.co.uk/ we're in the 2nd week of the challenge set by Frankie... the dragon herself....SECRET GARDEN.
I didnt have my tag done for last week, but Frankie said she was intrigued to see what i'd do with this theme so with more crafting time this week i made this tag.....

 ...its really two tags together ...... move the ivy and see the idyllic garden scene beneath! Its all stamped and fussy cut ( it is all recycled from a canvas i made back in february....and that was using recycled card! )
The images are from various companies..... but the spider and sheep that i adore are from SMEARED INK. I put the word 'welcome' on it as it is one of my favourite words and fits nicely with the challenge at SIMON SAYS STAMP.....

SMUDGY ANTICS and MACABRE MONDAY

This week's challenge theme is 
"Rain Down on Me".

You may interpret this anyway you want. 

We love when you guys and gals think outside of the box.  You can use water colours, paint with distress inks and an aqua pen, use spray inks, etc.  Heck, you can even go full grunge on a project and set it out in the rain for a bit to get even grungier or soak your project in the sink or shower for a bit.  The more creative and inventive, the better!  If all that is too extreme, just use an image with water and have fun!  

For this challenge, we also ask that you explain HOW you used water in your projects.  We can't wait to see what you come up with!  Bring it on!






I used images from SMEARED INK..... coloured with water colours, fussy cut, and added them to a background i created on corrugated cardboard.....using watered down acrylic paints. I then stamped over the the whole piece with watery silver paint, to hopefully create the feeling of rippling water.
I made a 'frame' that is supposed to look like the front end of a boat... or maybe a gothic arch.... added sand to my background and foreground.

I added sea shells/weed/netting/stones..... to this assemblage ...... hopefully creating an underwater peaceful scene. I hope you'll come and join us this week for this truly inspiring challenge.

that is to use eyeballs or optical themed images.  Now Let's SEE what you can come up with!

I keep my piece for this simple....eyes from ANATOMY 101 from SMEARED INK, coloured with promarkers, matted and layered with red and black card. The words were printed printed direct onto the card base on the computer....clever for me hey?

SMUDGY ANTICS and MACABRE MONDAY

Another week has flown by..... we at SMUDGY ANTICS have a new challenge for you ..................This week's theme is "TOUCH ME".
Yep. It's all about textures this week! How creative can you get with your embossing powders, embossing folders, and embossing tools? Do you have feathers laying around or metal bits? Play with that or any other medium that creates texture! What? You have velvet ribbons or flowers in your stash? Put them to good use in this challenge! Let's see how creative you can get! Don't be afraid to get messy. Most of all, don't be afraid to play along! We have crafters of all levels here so join in the fun!

I have altered another clock..... i know...boring! This one is square..... i used texture paper on the outer frame...painted it and rubbed with over with metallic paste. The inner piece is a square of hardboard i covered with leather..... the images are from ANATOMY 101 from SMEARED INK.

The skull top left is another of the 3d ones i make using 6x fussy cut layers and my melting pot. I used large soft black feathers top left corner and bottom right..... bottom right also has a lace and silk hand made flower.....not easy to see in my photo..... but that black blob is it!

"Grimm's Grimmest"

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece

based or inspired by one of the
tales of the Brother's Grimm.

There are well over 200 tales to choose from and you may be
surprised by how brutal and horrific the original tales
were actually written.
For example, did you know that in the original version of
Cinderella, (translated from the original "Aschenputtle")
in order for the wicked step sisters to get their feet to fit into the
slipper that one hacked off their toes and the other her heel?
It would seem that most of the tales ended with some sort of
bloodshed and death. Quite a long cry from the watered down
versions we were raised on from Disney and Scholastic books.

Oh! And let's not forget that this challenge is being

sponsored by none other than fellow Minion, Ike.

Ike is not only a masterful crafter of the darker side,
but she is also a wonderful artist who has quite the
selection of wonderful digital art available in her shop, Ike's Art.
She is offering up her Alice in Wonderland set of digis
as the prize for this week's challenge.
With that kind of incentive how can you not play along?

I took my inspiration form one of the over 200 hundred stories..... THE 7 RAVENS..... 7 brothers turned into 7 ravens by a wicked witch....who had to be saved by the one and only little sister.

I used the image of the original book cover from the internet..... altered it a bit by putting a SMEARED INK skull in the centre of the floral wreath..... and added 7 stamped ravens around it.

I did a little bit of decorating at the bottom with feathers , flowers, leaves and bits..... plus a ring tied with a ribbon, that the lass left so her brothers would know it was her who was trying to save them.

So there you have it...our new theme at QUOTH THE RAVEN is to take your inspiration from THE TELL-TALE HEART.

I altered a huge clock..... 14'' diameter ...... i used images from the internet....lots of paint. gesso, modge podge.... stick on numerals.... and gold embossing powder on the clock hands.

DRAGONS DREAM T.I.O

For the next fortnight it's Silvia'S turn to choose a book title. she decided to take "The Thorn Birds" from Colleen McCullough, so think about Australia, the Outback, etc. or think of the characters... or even the legend itself. Please keep in mind to use a minimum of one real stamp on your TAG.

I went with the theme of the book....forbidden love. I used stamps from various companies to make up my little scene. Coloured it all with promarkers and ink....added bling....very alien to me.... and a couple of sparkly ribbons through the hole at the top....(just for Zoe.)

SMUDGY ANTICS and MACABRE MONDAY

Its MONDAY so i have a couple of new challenges to tell you about....

the 1st is SMUDGY ANTICS.

This week's challenge theme is "LEVEL UP". We want to see layers and more layers in your projects. Show us how you level up! Get creative and don't be afraid to think outside of the box. We can't wait to see what you come up with!

I used a digi image from SMEARED INK...printed it out 6 times and fussy-cut... into dimensional layers and made up my 3D piece with silicone... once set i dipped it in my melting pot. It looks so nice in real life..... almost like real porcelain . I altered a 'watch' box using various stamps from SMEARED INK.... to make a background paper to cover it with....loads of ink to darken the edges..... and the lid topped with the gryphon. I hope you'll have time to show us your layers this week.

I used images from ItKuPilLi, stamp from NON-SEQUITUR, promarkers to alter the colours, blue and black ink, and black card stock.

We have a new challenge for you today over at DEICIOUS DOODLES.... and it is....
The Wonder of Life

''There is definitely a spring feel in the air, new life is emerging on the farms and in the hedgerows.
So, it could be new life, old life, re-emerging life, as long as it is based on LIFE we don't mind what you create!!''

I used 3 of Teri's images for my card.... Graveyard scene, Guarding the nest, and pansy corner (i printed that out 6x...and fussy cut...so that i could edge my arch)I coloured everything with promarkers, made my little scene into an arch shape and mounted onto a black card base.

On the forum, every month we have a guest designer who sets a challenge.... this month's guest is KATHY, who has challenged us to create GREEN STEAM PUNK......
I have reused a 10''x12'' canvas, and loads of recycled stuff..... the birds and bug are die-cut from cola cans, the cogs from the thick card on the back of paper pads, the black flowers from packaging..... the embossed metal strip is from a window blind. The tissue i stamped on is from a shoe box....so not only is this a green coloured piece it is a GREEN piece. The stamped image is from DE-STEMPELWINKEL.
