Smeared and smudged blog members hop and a very late MACABRE MONDAY

Firstly i need to say i'm so sorry that my DT piece for MACABRE MONDAYS didnt go up.... i have put it at the bottom of this post.





Today we at the SMEARED AND SMUDGED FORUM are having our March blog hop, and the theme is BROWN and GREEN.




I have made another mixed media piece of wall art.


I have used lots of 'stuff'....... sculpture paper i made, images from SMEARED INK i stamped onto pages from an E.A POE book that i'm altering.... very slowly..... rusty metal, washers, so much 'stuff' that most people would call junk!

I thought i'd alter this cute little bag..... it is just big enough for a purse and a packet of ciggies.... oh dear you can tell this dragon still smokes!

The skull is from SMEARED INK..... the AS DEATH set. Sorry about such a long post but things have been crazy here this week.... and i am just about dead on my feet.... i didnt know i could feel this bad!

Delicious doodles.... 2days late!

Ok.... how i forgot to put this up i dont know! But i did.... so sorry to everyone at DELICIOUS DOODLES..... we have a new challenge for you...it started FRIDAY..... and its to MAKE THE CARD YOU'D WANT TO RECEIVE. I used a variety of TERI's images...5 to be exact.... and as i am a computer idiot i had to print each one out the cut and paste 'em all together! I used shades of brown and black/grey.... heat embossed some of the cogs with copper/ verdigri embossing powers, MS punch, black card stock, and copper rub-on creme. I really dont like making cards but i actually enjoyed making this..... apart from all thr 'fussy-cutting' i had to do...but i think it looks fairly ok.

MACABRE MONDAY

Well its Monday again so its gotta be MACABRE, and as usual we have a new challenge for you.... and this weeks its...............
....................................................My Beloved Monster
You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based project with a monstrous theme. Big ones, short ones, ones that are cuddly & fat... scary ones, hairy ones, whatever kind of monster rocks your world. So let's just say we wanna see monsters in any size, shape, color or form!







I chose to make a book, its approx 4"x4".... made from scratch, in the traditional way..... the pages are stitched in place.....

...its bound in leather.... has a ribbon attached inside the spine ..... just like the old 'classy books have, to act as a book mark......

..... it has distressed blank pages for you to write about or draw your own monsters..... its fitted with a lock and key..... wanna keep your monsters locked away safely, dont ya?

......................... and i have used 12 different TELLENS PLACE IMAGES...... coloured with just a 5B pencil and a terricotta sketching pencil..................

............the pages are distressed with black ink................ and the images have been smudged.... using a 5B pencil you cant do much else but smudge it!

All of these fantastic MONSTER IMAGES are available at TELLENS PLACE..... the link is on my side bar.... i've only shown 4 of the 12 i have used...... but honestly they are all wonderful.

Guest Designer at QUIRKY CRAFTS

I entered a challenge over at QUIRKY CRAFTS a few weeks ago with my Zentangle coffin tags... remember them? Well anyways, Cazzy kindly offered me a guest designer spot, and this is my mixed media project for QUIRKY CRAFTS new challenge ALICE IN WONDERLAND. For me this is pretty huge! I havent measured it precisely but i think its about 12"x15". I have used images from OCTOPODE(link on my side bar), stamps,(non sequiteur from de-stampelwinkel....link on my side bar), metal, ribbon, lace, all sorts of 'findings'...posh word for bits i had laying around....

.... paper i made.... washers... lots of ink, paint, the main images are coloured with promarkers...

....background images are coloured with pencils.... G45 paper.... gems...

..... loads and loads of stuff.....

.... i love this cat.... and i'm not a cat person!..... There are 15 rectangles in all.... all have distressed edges.... the background is embossed and sanded.... and this piece is on mountboard....

....i made a silk flower, then made an Alice cameo.... cracked the glaze and mounted it in the centre of the flower....

similar to the brooches i have been making....i should have made it detachable!

I have spent all week.... not constantly of cause, making this, and had an awful lot of fun doing so.... i hope its QUIRKY.... AND FUN.

SMEARED INK

I missed last weeks SMEARED INK post on Wednesday as i just had no time to create anything.... but this week i had a play at altering again.
This little coin purse/bag thingy.... both my girls want it.... but i have only the one!
I stamped 'STUMPIE' from SMEARED INKS orginal Grumpies set, with stazon directly onto my bag, padded out the little pocket and coloured him in using fabric paints.... i like to use this paints quite wet so i can blend them, so i do have to pad out my work.... i am speaking from experience... i have ruined a few things with the colour seeping through. I added a chain with beads and bells to the zip.... and 3 buttons at the top, just to balance the overall design.

DELICIOUS DOODLES

We have a new challenge at Delicious Doodles and its a dead easy one.... VALENTINE.
I have used LOVES FADED MEMORY.... one of my favourite DD images.
I printed the image onto canvas, as i wanted the texture to show under the glaze.... so it would look sort of aged.
I used a brass mount, a deep red lace flower that i made and stitched onto a brooch backing. I added some vintage brass chain, and beads, a tiny bunch of keys, and a little heart lock.
I coloured the image very faintly with pencil.

We have a new challenge that started today.... and it is.... STRIPES.... i used tiger stripes, and stripes of cheetah fur in the background. The image is a new one and will be in the shop very soon..... i think its gonna appeal to lads... little and large!
I coloured my image with promarkers. Used animal print papers from my stash....they have been there for yonks!.....and lots of black card.

SMEARED INK ..... My 1st post on their new DT blog.

Happy wednesday to everyone, today is my turn to share something i've made using SMEARED INK STAMPS on the new DT BLOG thats just been set up. Click on my header and become a follower.... please?
I have altered a box.... using the sculpture paper that Terra gives a brilliant tutorial on, on Mixed media university, on the SMEARED AND SMUDGED FORUM.... the link is on my side bar.
After making my paper ....i used clear gesso mixed with red paint...i cover my empty box with it... i distressed the edges with black paint and silver metallic rub-on cream.
I used T!m Holtz die-cuts around the sides of the box...painted black and distressed same as the box.
I painted a wooden heart red, triple embossed with clear embossing powder.... i added a little chinese laquer around the edges just before stamping my SMEARED INK, GODDESS,
into it.

I made 2 lace flowers, coloured some silk leaves black, added some ribbon and placed that on the box top with my GODDESS heart.

Finally i added the word 'love' .... there you have it... a recycled box, fit for a Valentines gift.... oh dear...now to make something to put in it!

TRY IT ON TUESDAY BLOG HOP

Its Tuesday so we have a new challenge at TRY IT ON TUESDAY.

The new challenge is to make a tag, and the theme is HEARTS and FLOWERS.

Now this week is a bit different, we are having a blog hop all of which involves collecting letters from the Lovin' ink shop where you see the heart which looks like this...........

The project these stamps were launched with - the gorgeous bug box - the actual one that was in Craft Stamper designed and dreamed up by the fabulous co-founder of 'LOVIN INK', Michelle or Midnight Crafter . Michelle is quite modest and does not believe anyone would want to win her work, yeh right!!!????..... however the rest of us know, it is a gorgeous piece we would all love to get our inky mitts on......

So here is my tag.... I made my tag using distress inks, stamping swirls and hearts onto whilst it was still just damp, for that misty aged feel.... i printed out a vintage lady onto vellem, mounted it onto gold card, stuck that, vintage lace, paper flowers that i coloured with distress inks, and a grungeboard heart, that i inked, triple embossed and stamped into whilst hot.... all onto my background tag.

Here is a close up of the lady, flowers and heart..... and also a real close up of the heart... you can see it says 'LOVE'.... aarrhhh how sweet..... OMG whats come over me?

MACABRE MONDAY

YAY ....It's Monday, so it's gotta be MACABRE and our new challenge is.....

................Flesh-eating Frenzy ..................

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based project with a flesh-eating theme. It can be zombies, cannibals, unpronouncable viruses, whatever floats your macabre boat that has something to do with consuming flesh.

I thought i'd take a swipe at a social worker who told me a while ago to let my girls go and stay with their father every other weekend..... so that i only had the oldies to look after instead of small kiddies and oldies...... obviously she hadnt bothered to read her notes....... so i replied.... 'do you know....i hadnt thought of that?....... but do i dig him up, or bury them with him?'
Anyways..... heres my Zombie Dad....... the ZOMBIE and GRAVE stamps are from SMEARED INK http://smearedink.com/ ....BUILD A ZOMBIE SET.

I stamped a background around my images.... coloured them with promarkers....coloured a piece of DP to tone ...... used a MS punch on some red paper.... matted, layered etc.

My words i printed on the puter, coloured with promarkers and cut 'em out.

It's been ages since i entered a challenge just for the fun of it... and its been ages since i've entered DRAGONSDREAM, TAG IT ON.... but this week i just had to do it! Frankie has chosen as the theme ZENTANGLE..... and boy did i have fun....so much so that i made 2 tags for the challenge.... one in colour, the other in shades of grey. The brain within a light bulb is a stamp from DE-STEMPLEWINKEL.... which i stamped and embossed. The tags are coloured with promarkers, and inked round the edges.
These were just pure fun!

Now..... as i cant have an empty box, i made this Victorian inspired corsage/brooch.... again the image is Smeared ink..... brass coloured mounts, chain etc..... cream silk, and peachy cream pearls.

SMEARED INK

Just a quick post today.... after mondays long, long post i thought i'd just share one photo.
I have made a hanging POE ..... i used Poe,and Skeletal wings from the SMEARED INK , QUOTE THE RAVEN rubber stamp set.
The cage is a T!m Holtz die that i altered a bit.... cut some of the bars off.... i embossed it with rusty nail and verdigris embossing powders..... i hung black drop gems from the bottom....

you'll have to take my word for it but it is double sided....i stamped everything out twice..... the wings are a perfect match, front and back but Mr Poe had to have a bit of a hair cut to make him fit .... he actually needed it!..... i added a crown , that i stamped and embossed with verdigris powder onto black card, cut 'em out..... one crown each side of his head.

This for me was a quick fun project and i really enjoyed myself.... i shall also enter this at DESERT ISLAND CRAFTS, http://desertislandcraftschallenge.blogspot.com/ a brand new challenge site..... they give you a list of 10 things to choose from and you must use a minimum of 3 of them on your project...., i used 1, gems, 2 die-cuts, 3 embossing and maybe 4..... mystical/fantasy creature?
