Another week has flown by..... we at SMUDGY ANTICS have a new challenge for you ..................This week's theme is "TOUCH ME".
Yep. It's all about textures this week! How creative can you get with your embossing powders, embossing folders, and embossing tools? Do you have feathers laying around or metal bits? Play with that or any other medium that creates texture! What? You have velvet ribbons or flowers in your stash? Put them to good use in this challenge! Let's see how creative you can get! Don't be afraid to get messy. Most of all, don't be afraid to play along! We have crafters of all levels here so join in the fun!

I have altered another clock..... i know...boring! This one is square..... i used texture paper on the outer frame...painted it and rubbed with over with metallic paste. The inner piece is a square of hardboard i covered with leather..... the images are from ANATOMY 101 from SMEARED INK.

The skull top left is another of the 3d ones i make using 6x fussy cut layers and my melting pot. I used large soft black feathers top left corner and bottom right..... bottom right also has a lace and silk hand made flower.....not easy to see in my photo..... but that black blob is it!
I hope you'll play along with us this week..... TEXTURE can be almost anything!
I shall enter this clock in the following challenges....... ANYTHING GOES LINKY PARTY.

Now as its Monday it has to be macabre.... so of cause we at MACABRE MONDAY have a new challenge for you.......

"Grimm's Grimmest"

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
based or inspired by one of the
tales of the Brother's Grimm.

There are well over 200 tales to choose from and you may be
surprised by how brutal and horrific the original tales
were actually written.
For example, did you know that in the original version of
Cinderella, (translated from the original "Aschenputtle")
in order for the wicked step sisters to get their feet to fit into the
slipper that one hacked off their toes and the other her heel?
It would seem that most of the tales ended with some sort of
bloodshed and death. Quite a long cry from the watered down
versions we were raised on from Disney and Scholastic books.

Oh! And let's not forget that this challenge is being
sponsored by none other than fellow Minion, Ike.
MY OPEN :-)
Ike is not only a masterful crafter of the darker side,
but she is also a wonderful artist who has quite the
selection of wonderful digital art available in her shop, Ike's Art.
She is offering up her Alice in Wonderland set of digis
as the prize for this week's challenge.
With that kind of incentive how can you not play along?

I took my inspiration form one of the over 200 hundred stories..... THE 7 RAVENS..... 7 brothers turned into 7 ravens by a wicked witch....who had to be saved by the one and only little sister.
I used the image of the original book cover from the internet..... altered it a bit by putting a SMEARED INK skull in the centre of the floral wreath..... and added 7 stamped ravens around it.
I did a little bit of decorating at the bottom with feathers , flowers, leaves and bits..... plus a ring tied with a ribbon, that the lass left so her brothers would know it was her who was trying to save them.
I hope you'll play along with us... you have so many stories to chose from..... you'll be spoilt for choice!
I'll enter the following challenges....

Thanks for visiting ...i hope you'll get time to join in with one, if not both of these challenges this week.

How then must we proceed with further tales of darkness and horror ? - How other than a tale of Guilt and how it doth yet eat away within our mind until, at last, on the edge of madness, we must give ourself away and confess all. !! 'Twas such that our next tale reveals.... "The Tell-Tale Heart". IKE
Quote "It is impossible to say how first the idea entered my brain; but, once conceived, it haunted me day and night. Object there was none. Passion there was none. I loved the old man. He had never wronged me. He had never given me insult. For his gold I had no desire. I think it was his eye ! Yes, it was this ! He had the eye of a vulture - a pale blue eye, with a film over it. Whenever it fell upon me, my blood ran cold; and so by degrees - and very gradually - I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye forever" E.A.POE

So there you have it...our new theme at QUOTH THE RAVEN is to take your inspiration from THE TELL-TALE HEART.
I altered a huge clock..... 14'' diameter ...... i used images from the internet....lots of paint. gesso, modge podge.... stick on numerals.... and gold embossing powder on the clock hands.
I hope you can join us this fortnight, taking inspiration from the master.
I shall enter the following challenges.......

GINGERSNAP CREATIONS GOING ROUND IN CIRCLES. its not a card but it is a circle so i hope its ok? ANYTHING GOES LINKY PARTY.
Thanks for visiting me. love lynx

For the next fortnight it's Silvia'S turn to choose a book title. she decided to take "The Thorn Birds" from Colleen McCullough, so think about Australia, the Outback, etc. or think of the characters... or even the legend itself. Please keep in mind to use a minimum of one real stamp on your TAG.
I went with the theme of the book....forbidden love. I used stamps from various companies to make up my little scene. Coloured it all with promarkers and ink....added bling....very alien to me.... and a couple of sparkly ribbons through the hole at the top....(just for Zoe.)
I hope you'll have time to play along this fortnight...and Frankie is having a DT CALL.... so why not make a tag and put your name forward.?
I'll enter the following challenges.... GREEN PLUS OLD STASH...... the ribbon and bling is as old as the ark! RHINESTONES FLOWERS AND RIBBON.... hope the bling flower counts

Its MONDAY so i have a couple of new challenges to tell you about....
the 1st is SMUDGY ANTICS.
This week's challenge theme is "LEVEL UP". We want to see layers and more layers in your projects. Show us how you level up! Get creative and don't be afraid to think outside of the box. We can't wait to see what you come up with!
I used a digi image from SMEARED INK...printed it out 6 times and fussy-cut... into dimensional layers and made up my 3D piece with silicone... once set i dipped it in my melting pot. It looks so nice in real life..... almost like real porcelain . I altered a 'watch' box using various stamps from SMEARED INK.... to make a background paper to cover it with....loads of ink to darken the edges..... and the lid topped with the gryphon. I hope you'll have time to show us your layers this week.

I shall enter the following challenges.... ANYTHING GOES LINKY PARTY

Next up ....of cause as its Monday it just has to be

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
based or inspired by your favorite quote.

There are so many wonderful quotes to draw inspiration from!
Maybe a quote from a favorite book or movie character.
How about something historical or just plain hysterical?

Who would i quote? Who else but the Master... E.A.POE.
I used images from ItKuPilLi, stamp from NON-SEQUITUR, promarkers to alter the colours, blue and black ink, and black card stock.
I hope you'll have time to share your favourite QUOTE with us this week.

Stamps are from SMEARED INK,QUOTH THE RAVEN, stamped onto tissue paper .... i used GOLDEN GEL MEDIUM so that the shoes can be worn..... i dont think it would be a good idea to go through puddles in them.....

"To be buried alive is, beyond question, the most terrific of these extremes which has ever fallen to the lot of mere mortality. That it has frequently, very frequently, so fallen will scarcely be denied by those who think. The boundaries which divide Life from Death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where one ends, and where the other begins?" E.A.POE

''Fancy then, to awaken in darkness so black as to think that thine eyes are yet shut, but upon dread realisation that they are not - to have the utter desperation of thy situation become firm in thy brain. ! The Master, having written of such cases, now challenges thee to open thy imagination and produce for him an image from the dark, tormented depths of thy soul.
Alas, the grim legion of sepulchral terrors cannot be regarded as altogether fanciful-- but, like the Demons, they must sleep, or they will devour us -- they must be suffered to slumber, or we perish.'' IKE

So this is our new challenge for you....PREMATURE BURIAL..... scary or what?
I have used images from the internet, altered the colours with promarkers..... darkened the edges with ink and then over stamped tattered lace.
We look forward to seeing what nightmare-ish creations you can come up with.

I shall enter the following challenges..... FAVOURITE THINGS.... Poe, macabre, black ink!

I think i used every Alice stamp i own and collaged a background..... i used just grey and yellow promarkers to colour it.... then i used a paper doll from Dover publishing as my main image.... altered her colours with promarkers and pasted her on.....matted my tag onto yellow then black card and knotted a ribbon through the hole.
I hope you'll come and play along with us.

Another week has flown by and i have two brand new challenges to share with you today.
I have really cheated this week and combined my two DT pieces into one.... although both pieces are separate things really.
This is the complete piece...welcome to the FREAK SHOW.

Now come on doesnt get any easier than that.... does it? (please read the rules on the blog side bar.)
I altered a little freaky clown doll.... i made him new clothes out of felt... a top hat.... and a new face. I used the POE stamp from SMEARED INK's QUOTH THE RAVEN rubber set, stamped onto tissue paper.... painted my clowns face then stuck the Poe image on.
The flowers in his hat are also a SMEARED INK stamp.... from KILLER BO PEEP.
Itsn't he freaky?

Now on to what Mondays are all about for me.... MACABRE MONDAY....
"Terrible Twos"

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
that uses the same image twice. Doesn't matter if it's a digi
or if it's stamped, or even hand drawn. Make it twice and make it
creepy or at least strange and unique.

We have a sponsor this week!
And not just any sponsor, we have the awesome

Megan is offering 3 digi images of your choice from
her shop.
She keeps adding new and unique images all the time!
She has something for everyone, especially those of us
who like the strange and unusual.

Now i'm no fan of cute images.... and most creepy cute images send me screaming to my dungeon, but DILLY BEANS.... I LIKE!
WEIRD...STRANGE...QUIRKY....the images not me! (well maybe me?)
I made this little house shaped Freak show.... one of my girls helped with the painting, cutting out the felt flags and sticking it all together...she even stitched the flags for me.... not bad for a 6yr old hey? The images are of cause DILLY BEANS....TWO IMAGES USED TWICE!
Images coloured with promarkers, die-cut letters...loads of paint and old card board box...scraps of felt...and textured paper i made from a tutorial at SMEARED and SMUDGED.
I really do hope you can join in with one if not both of these challenges this week.
I shall enter the following challenges..... REUSE/RECYCLE ...old cardboard box BUTTONS ...buttons on his jacket
Thanks for visiting me love BDx
