QUOTH THE RAVEN http://poequoththeraven.blogspot.co.uk/

We have a new challenge for you.....but 1st, Congrats to the Top 3 and Winner of 'TO HELEN' that we extended as poor Ike was out of action...... Get better soon Ike....

On now to my tale......THE PIT & THE PENDULUM. Think ye lucky that thou are not living in the time of the dread Inquisition ? Such a tale I relate of one poor soul who had the misfortune to have been in very close quarter with them. Imagine finding thyself in a dark and dank pit having been on trial with The Inquisition. !! Thou knowest that thy death is inevitable but thou knowest not How - only that it will be slow and painful. !!! The soul within the tale has but 3 choices - to be sliced by the slowly inching, swinging blade of the Pendulum or (having broken free of his bonds) to be either crushed between the slowly advancing, red hot metal walls of his chamber or to fling himself down in the chasm of horror ... The Pit.... and the horrors it may contain, should death not follow instantly. Which choice would thee make I ask ??? The complete story of the tale can be found HERE. Read then and make for the Master a creation representing this tale...... If ye dare !!!!!!
I altered a little pocket ashtray.....i love these things.....i used images of Vincent Price from the 1961 film and layered it up..... made a pendulum from a fizzy drink can.....boy is it sharp!..... and of cause a picture of Poe.... my photos are not to good...sorry.... its so shiny.... and i couldnt capture the depth to piece either.
On the outside i attached a pretty bejewelled flower .....(from an old necklace)..... hiding the horrors within. I hope you'll have time to play along this fortnight.....
I shall enter the following challenges......

  5. Wooooo, creepy, creepy, creepy! Hope I never have to make a choice between the pit and the pendulum! Your altered piece is sensational-it really conveys so many aspects of the story. And I have to chime in with the others - what the heck is a pocket ashtray - do I want ashes in my pocket??? I say fling 'em out the window and make altered art out of the ashtray! Super job and thanks for joining in the alter it challenge at Frilly and Funkie!

  14. This is absolutely marvelous! I saw Poe's face , then the pendulum, and didn't have to read your description to know where your inspiration came from. Love the deceptive flower on the outside.
