I have many things i dislike.... mice/rats and any rodent.....pink/ glitter/sparkly stuff...... but really i have just two real phobias.....one i cant even bring myself to depict in my art work..... the other is.....
..... i kept my piece simple.... black/white/grey with a splash of red. I used digital images and real stamps combined. I used promarkers to shade my images and ink to colour and distress my piece.
Come and check our the SMEARED AND SMUDGED FORUM......
Smeared and Smudged is an online community of rubber stampers and crafters who enjoy using alternative, gothic, edgy, and unique stamps in their designs. We thrive on different and unusual. We welcome the macabre and devious side of things, and most of all, we embrace ALL types and styles of art. Whether or not you “come to the dark side”, your creations should be a reflection of you. Here at Smeared and Smudged, the most important thing is being yourself.
I shall enter the following challenges with my 'fear' and hope that it doesnt offend anyone.

Ooo that gave me the willies! Very beautiful piece of art but not even letting that thought come anywhere near my brain x
ReplyDeleteA sentiment shared by (almost) every parent I think Lynx. Your depiction though is beautiful in a style only you have mastered. The red really highlights everything and draws the eyes in.

ReplyDeleteOh, the horror! That would be the worst thing ever! Fabulous depiction of your fear. Dark, elegant, and deep. Thank you for sharing, my dear friend.
ReplyDeleteI think this is every parent's fear. Your design has impact and it is a true "art" card! Thanks for sharing it with us at Jackson's Digital Expressions! I would love to see more of your work in our future challenges. I think it would be interesting!

never thought of that one, though it must be every parents fear, I don't even want to think about it.
ReplyDeleteYou made a very beauriful piece ,it really makes you think....
Lynx,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful piece! The art work on this is wonderful, love the skulls, and the placement of them! Love the distressed look of it, and the splotchy background! Terrific job! I totally feel you on your phobia, no parent should out live their child. Great job my friend!
This is so true it is my fear to. The card is fabulous. The shades of grey and touches of red add the perfect touch.

This is powerful and beautiful all wrapped up in one. I love the skulls and small amount of red is just enough and still packs a punch. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteExtremely insightful piece of art! Thanks so much for playing with us in our "Focus on the Sentiment" challenge at Lexi's Creations. I do so hope we'll see you again in our next challenge.

Fabulous creation! Love your talent. I have admired it for some time now.
ReplyDeleteWow BlackDragon that is a great piece of explanation of a phobia. Perfect colors for such a sad event to happen. That's 3 death fear's so far on this phobia hop day.
ReplyDeleteGlad to be here and see more of your work.
Hi Lynn,
ReplyDeleteLOVE your piece, it is very moving and the grayness of it all really drives home the message! PLUS gives it a vintage feel.
I think all parents have this on a fear list.
No parent should have to bury a child. Sadly, this just happened in our family, not a CHILD but still a child. One of my cousins just died, he was only 58- 7 years older than me. His mom is still alive in her very late 70s.
Try not to think too much about it!
love you!
Susan
Beautiful work! I agree with others that it is a very moving piece.
ReplyDeleteMust admit this certainly focused my attention on your sentiment! Fabulous work. Thanks for joining Lexi's Creations 'focus on the sentiment' challenge!

ReplyDeleteI lost my son four years ago, so I find your project very upsetting. Sorry I just had to comment. Suzanne
ReplyDeletereally dig this! Some time ago I thought of having that skully image on my blog header it is so cool!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love these colors together. I keep meaning to make myself a purse or something with the colors. That is a big fear of mine too. You should lose a child. I had a miscarriage & that is the same thing. It shook me to my core. Love your work!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with the comments that this is a fear of all parents I love how you have showcased your phobia. xxx
ReplyDeleteWow what an insight. Love the color composition. Good Luck.

Wow I can't even tell you how close this hits home! That is my biggest fear which has been magnified since last fall when 2 of my daughter's friends, 16 and 17, were killed in a car accident! I think about it almost every day. I love the artwork and coloring. I've always had a little dark side myself, love skulls...good thing I have boys too he he... Thanks for joining us at JDE for our 1st Challenge and good luck!

I think this is definitely something that most parents have in the back of minds but try not to think about it, unless we have to. A really artistic creation. Thanks for joining in with our challenge over at LIIU, and good luck.
ReplyDeleteMaria x
Definately a fear parents have (but don't like to think about). I think you've portrayed your fear beautifully on this piece. The shading is amazing and the pop of real really works well against it, but isn't in your face (does that make since, it's supposed to be a compliment lol).
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us at forever Night Challenges this week.
Hiya Blackdragon, long time no see! Hope to catch up with you again over at the Creative Coterie when things kick off again :0) I need to post some projects there soon! Anyway, spotted your deliciously dark piece over at the MIM challenge and had to stop by for a closer look! Wonderful piece, I love your style. Super scary subject but gorgeously rendered! See ya!
