SMEARED AND SMUDGED FORUM JULY BLOG HOP

Every month at Smeared and Smudged we have a members' blog hop. This month the girls wanted us to to step away from cards and ALTER a 3D object. The only rule was that had to have a stamped image or sentiment on it somewhere.

I had great fun altering this china owl..... i used PAPER ARTSY stamps..... stamped onto tissue paper and heat embossed , black, i then used copious amounts of pva. Once dry i coloured my owl with black and grey ink..... i used black ink at the bottom to sort of shade the edges.... and tried to define his beak and eyes the same way.

I used brass washers and black gems for his eyes.

Finally i coated him with clear sealer.

SMEARED INK day #5

Welcome to the last of my new release projects for Smeared ink. This piece is very personal to me.... its half of a two page spread..... and expresses how i feel....
I was given an image from GROSS ANATOMY... the 2 severed heads i have used in the cut out feature of my altered book.
All the other stamps used are SMEARED INK .... either real rubber or didis. I have used paint, ink, pages from a 1928 book of common prayer, Victorian style scrap.... lace...and my own wording and doodles.

I kept this ( and the facing page) page muted...using soft colours with black.....

The opposite page i'll share tomorrow.

I shall enter this into the following challenges and hopefully not offend or upset to many people.

This piece is an expression of how i feel.... i dont expect anyone to agree with me.

Well.... its Monday and i got well and truely conned by my DT minion buddies at MACABRE MONDAYS....... i was given the impression that our challenge was something different to it actually is....... our new challenge for you is ...................
Haunted Birthday Bash!
You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
representing a haunted birthday or celebration.

My offering could be a birthday card for a fella..... i suppose.... i know one i can send this to....

I am show casing another new digi image from SMEARED INK today, this one is from ZOMBIE PIN-UPS.... http://www.smearedink.com/..... coloured with promarkers.

I stamped and heat embossed the background using one of SMEARED INKS 'Inky dreams' stamps.....mounted on to distressed red card.... added bling, a hand made flower and blood drips made using a MS punch.

This sentiment made me smile.....

SMEARED INK day #3 of NEW RELEASES

Happy Sunday.... today has my third offering of the new releases at SMEARED INK.
I have used one of THE MISTRESSES OF THE DARK for this mixed media wall hanging.
I distress painted the circular board.... added my image that i coloured with promarkers and cut out. I have used crochet mesh fabric, beads, gems, feather butterflies that i painted black... flowers (poppies) i made.... and the word ADORE that i hand cut inked paited then heat embossed then distressed...lots.
Tomorrow i'll show you another new release from Smeared ink.

SMEARED INK NEW RELEASES #2

Happy weekend.... today i have another of the new releases from SMEARED INK to share with you..... below is the full digi set................... HEEBIE JEEBIES........ .............and this is my card using the image from the dead centre above.... i also used the splatters from SMEARED INK..... coloured the image with promarkers and darken/distressed the edges with ots of lovely black ink............

....torn red card, mounted onto black cardstock..... job done.

SMEARED INK NEW RELEASE BLOG HOP

It's mid July and its HALLOWE'EN release time....
This will be the first of two Halloween Releases by Smeared Ink.
The second release will be in September. There are a total of 11 digi sets being released on 07/15/11 plus one preview single image from the September release. Anyone who loves creepy....there is even a creepy cute set!.... Zombies.... Day of the dead..... or just plain weird (ME!) you need to do this blog hop and have a look at the images.............. then go to the SMEARED INK STORE....... over the next 5 days i'll be showing the ones i was given to create with...... my 1st offering is from the A BIT BATTY set.................

i've made a wall hanging..... sort of in the style of a Victorian trophy.............. six layers of this wonderful digi image.... all aged and fussy cut..... and i do mean fussy cut..... are decoupaged onto my painted and distressed 10 inch circular canvas. I used chipboard letters, painted and distressed....and a definition from a vintage dictionary..... and a row of studs around the edge.

MACABRE MONDAY

Its Monday again.... so we at MACABRE MONDAY have a new challenge for you... this week its........................................ Loathsome Lotharios
You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
representing those bad boys we (sometimes) love to hate.
Think of a rake, libertine, a scoundrel, or a seducer... a man who obsessively seduces and deceives women, and create something that represents your desire or disgust.


I created a scene using 5 stamps from THIRD COAST and 1 from CHERRY PIE.... ( the chappie standing looking at the lasses)i made masks for them all except the last one used that was the building at the rear. I coloured my scene with distress inks, then dakened all the edges..... then...idiot that i am i remembered i needed to do a shaped card.... so i cut my scene into an arch and re-distressed the edges! I mounted my scene onto an easel base i made from black card stock.
I made my 'stop' and covered it with black ribbon.... i made 5 clay flowers, glued them to punched flowers added punched leaves... and the dreaded glitter.... saving grace.... it is black glitter!

SMEARED INK DRAGONSDAY

Every other Wednesday its my turn to post on the SMEARED INK DT BLOG..... i affectionatly call it Dragonsday instead of Wednesday. I had a look at some challenge sites last night and decides to make something that i could enter in a few of these.
My friend Susan ...of Craftchaos designs discovered a Hallowe'en challenge blog.... there are a couple of Vintage challenges , a couple of distressing challenges and a couple wanting your favoutire stamp/things.... so with these in mind .... i set about my project.... well as soon as favourite image/stamp/thing is concerned Poe comes to mind.... and the other day i was asked by one of my girls what FASCINATION meant..... so i used my love of all things Poe as an example for her.... and this is the basis of my wall art piece.I found a brilliant sketch at OUR VINTAGE AFFAIR.... http://ourvintageaffair.blogspot.com/ (THE SKETCH and FLOWERS, INCLUDING AT LEAST ONE HANDMADE YOURSELF. )
I started off with a piece of T!m Holtz paper that i ink , sanded and distressed I used my favourite stamp set from SMEARED INK.... the wonderful QUOTH THE RAVEN... stamped the wire mesh randomly over my distressed paper..... i used a white pencil to just slightly high-light some of the swirls.... i coloured some gems with 'Umber' promarker to make the curve of the sketch.... i wanted a frame for Mr Poe...so i made one from thick card.... did a cracked paint effect on it...... stamped and masked Poe.... stamped the wire over my mask, and coloured with the same distress inks i used for my background. I placed my Poe image in my frame and used UTEE.... i made 3 tiny paper roses and added some metal leaves i coloured with Umber promarker..... I found lurking in a box some acrylic words.....i think i brought these in 2007 then promptly forgot them..... so i used 3 of these that i attached to some backing paper with diamond glaze..... tiny brads to fill the holes..... the word Fascination is a MAYA ROAD DIE-CUT.... that i distress ink then triple embossed.... the same tiny brads added.... i made 3 tiny pencils..... as Poe's writting is another of my favourite things..... then just mounted it onto distressed blue, then distressed brown card stock.
Blue and brown arnt colours i usually use but i think they have a lovely vintage feel.

Sorry i have been absent for a while...life has a nasty way of interferring with my crafting these days.

Stretch your imagination and your stash, and use things like string or ribbon, or barbed wire or sinew and ligaments. It's your call.

I decided to alter another doll...... this one is called GLORIA............. after my teamie at MM.
You can see my long dangly bits...... a cord and a cross on a chain...... plus some of the flesh on her face is dangling off just a bit.
