MACABRE MONDAY(LATE) AND TRY IT ON TUESDAY

Sorry for being a day late posting this.... we have a new challenge for you at MACABRE MONDAYS.....this week we are sponsored by SIMPLY BETTY STAMPS and our theme is....

"E.M.O."

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
using items that begin with an 'E', 'M' and an 'O'.
For example:
E: Emo image, Edge punch, Embellishments, Embossing, Eggplant, Ephemera, Eight
M: Material, Medium, Mists, Matts, Metal, Magic, Magenta, Messy, Mesh, Maroon, Mint
O: Orange, Oval, Old, Ornamental, Octagonal, Oblong, Obsidian (black), Overlay, Organza, Olive You only have to have one of each of the letters represented in your piece.


I was given this rather cute vampire image to play with.... so i made up a little creepy scene and made it into a coffin shaped card.
I coloured my background 'EMERALD'.....'MASKED' my image.... used 'OBSIDIAN' (black) card and gems.
I coloured the background and image with promarkers.... i stamped creepy branches in pale gray, medium grey and then in black.... finally i sponged black ink over the whole piece to give it a misty/foggy feel.

Now on to TRY IT ON TUESDAY..... and be warned....this is completely different to the card above... sick bucket at the ready...?



Our new challenge has been chosen by my teamie GEORGINA.... and its to alter something(anything you fancy) on a DREAM theme.

I used the words from an Abba song.... my Grandad loves Abba.... this damned song rattles around in my head...

i painted a dark wood frame cream, sanded it, then stamped cracks on it in a pale blue.... i heat embossed the edges with embossing powder i mixed myself.... i used the same powder on the silk leaves, diecuts and some of the flowers....

i made all the flowers, some fabric, some from torn scrunched up paper... the image is a victorian scrap i've had forever.... i printed the song words out on the puter... spray painted the paper... stamped swirls in paint.... used gems, lace, pearls.... made a little fancy thing for the top out of clay.... metal butterflys.... and the dreaded glitter.....

Macabre monday x 2 weeks...and Smeared ink Dragons day

I have had a crazy 10 days...sorry i missed last weeks MACABRE MONDAY POSTING... it was to use DALI as your inspiration.... this weeks new challenge is.......

"Necro Neckware"

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece that could be turned into a pendant! Everyone is encouraged to play along for fun and Gruesome Twosome status, but their own original artwork is necessary to win the prize. And WHAT A PRIZE IT IS!
Heres my offering..... a STEAMPUNK skull.... i drew the skull ..its just shades with a 4B pencil... i scanned it to the puter and printed t out small enough to fit into these mounts....

Below is the DALI inspired piece i made.... i drew a Dali-esque skul, rose, and melting clock... scanned that to the puter and made a small image into a pendant..... i coloured the background blue to just make it feel more DALI....

Its my Wednesday to post on the SMEARED INK DT blog ......... today i have one of the digi CREATURE FEATURE images to share with ya..... these images are wonderful.... i sooooooooooooo wanna make a book with them, but for now its just an 8''x8'' layout. I used black white and pink.... i must be going girly in my old age.... gems ribbon and feathers.... really girly!
I cut the deaf signs out of some paper i had to spell out 'ink'.... did loads of distressing.... and ended up with something pink i actually like!

SMEARED AND SMUDGED MEMBERS BLOG HOP FOR MAY

Smeared and Smudged is the ning group for and the sister site of Smeared Ink. They have monthly challenges with prizes and a monthly member blog hop. You do not need to use or own Smeared Ink Stamps to join in the fun. The only requirement is to use a stamped image somewhere on your project.
This month's theme for the hop was technique. We were challenged to use a technique we have never tried before...or to use a technique that we are really awesome at.
( i borrowed this eloquent statement from Lady B..... thank you lady!)

I had a long think about this .....and decided to make some canvas roses.... i've never made these before....but they were dead easy and quick and i found i can make 'em out of other fabrics.... great when i need the hard to find black flowers i love so much.... paper and card.

This is another of my 'made from scratch books'....... this one has a sewing theme.... the covers are covered in recycled suede....

the image is stamped onto the same recycled canvas as the flowers are made from, as are the little cotton 'cards'....

TRY IT ON TUESDAY

This is the 1st time in yonks i have had a dt piece ready fot TIOT..... sorry guys for being such a flake.... but this one i really wanted to do, so had it ready awhile back!
The new challenge is to MAKE A TAG ....ONE FOR THE BOYS. I printed my words out on the puter then stamped and masked my background ..... coloured it with ink and pencils.....stamped, cut and pasted poppies....
i added washers and a clock.......

and a picture of my grandad, taken in 1939...

he was just 19. Now he is just a frail, senile old man..... but he has seen so much... and the 'distant past' he remembers like yesterday..... but he cant remember what he had for breakfast!

MACABRE MONDAY

It is still MONDAY..... so its MACABRE.... and we have a new challenge for ya......
..................... "The Mark of the Beast"


You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based project using SIX of something three times! For example, 6 gems, 6 layers, & 6 words... that kind of thing. >:)



this had me a little confused.... ( it dont take much these days....) .... then i read the instructions again..properly... and made another book!
The cover has 6x brads/paper fasteners on it.... the word 'BEASTS' has 6x letters.... and inside i have used 6x different images.
The book is made from scrap mount board, covered in sculpture paper that i made.... i used a Tim Holtz book plate thingy on the front.
The pages are sewn, in the traditional way.
I have used 6 different DARK IMAGES from TELLENS PLACE.... coloured with a 4b drawing pencil, sepia sketching pencil and a chinese white pencil.
The pages have all been ink distressed, and aged. Below are the 6 images....

I love these dragon type images, sooooo much!

The last photo shows me holding my little book.... i really do like working on a small scale, i just wish my eyes were as good as they used to be!

SMEARED INK NEW RELEASE BLOG HOP

SMEARED INK have a fantastic new digi release today..... click on my title to go to the shop..... there is a brilliant offer on at the moment... BUY 2 DIGI SETS....GET A 3RD FREE!!! I was given this wonderful...marvelous..... fantastic.... (can ya tell i like this image?) to work with, i just adore this dragony, lizardy thingy..... so much so that i had to print him out huge...as well as on the full image....

...... i used bright colours...very unusual for me...... lots of gems and pearls...also very unusual for me....... leaves and swirls all fussy cut from a wall paper border.... a chipboard word...BLISS.... 'cos i think he looks completely BLISSFUL.

My wall art is done onto a box canvas...that i painted azure blue then use 'envy' (green) to distress it.... i use 2 different background stamps for this..... which are still in soaking to get the paint out of the crevasses.... i coloured my images with promarkers....

thats about it really....all very simple..... all very not me!

DELICIOUS DOODLES

'Fantasy and Mythical Beasties' ...............


............................is the brand new challenge at DELICIOUS DOODLES.... i have done so few of my DT samples lately as my Nan is so poorly, that i really need to apologise to everyone.
SORRY!

I have used Teri's beautiful PEGASUS..... coloured very subtly with promarkers, just to give him the same colour tint as the pearl beads and glass hearts.

I made a necklace, using silver grey and aqua ribbon..... silver, and aqua coloured pearls, aqua crystals and siver and cream seed pearly beads.

I used silver grey satin and aqua lace to make this flower brooch that can be removed and worn alone.

The beautiful PEGASUS is set into a crystal surrounded mount.... and glazed over.

My pictures dont show the true colours.... as its silver and blue.... really pretty and feminine.... its one of the prettiest things i have ever made.... damn i'm getting girly!!!

MACABRE MONDAY

YAY its Monday and at last i have something to share with you guys..... we have a brand new challenge and its......
"Freaker's Free-for-All"


You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based project without any rules! That's right, anything goes as long as it is in done with a flair for the macabre :)

I have been (slowly.... very slowly) altering another porcelain doll ...... this time i actually made all the clothes, i used one of my daughters baby dress, and the cloak is made from scraps from one of the christmas outfits i made the girls a couple of years back ( ...except the shoes.... they have just been altered with alcohol inks....... )
This is DONNA, AKA DEAD RIDING HOOD.........

.............................She looks pretty normal ........ cute and sweet in fact......


............................. but when she takes her hood down..................................

..................... not quite so cute now ...is she?

I built the texture of her face up in layers......the lesions where made in the layers and then painted so they have some depth.......

................. this picture shows her pretty clothes..... and shiny red shoes.....





......this picture shows her 'flaky' dead skin..... and blood red eyes....... her arms and legs have the same paint job on them as her face..... i used acrylics and sealed them with a matt spray varnish... i removed her hair before i started the make over.... replaced it after and cut it into a cute bob.......
