MAY MONSTER MADNESS 2014

Well.... here we are at the end of MAY celebrating all things MONSTER!

This is a MONSTER MADNESS BLOG HOP.....
this'll take you to the linky for all the blogs taking part.

MONSTERS of all kinds  will be found on the participating blogs...

old monsters, new monsters.... the monsters that lurk in the darkness under your bed at night.

I love olde worlde monsters....

like the kind found on old maps of the then known world.... 'here be dragons' and all that.

I made some small gift boxes with this kind of monster on them....

did folks really believe these things existed?

A Cockatrice, dog-faced dragon and an octobat...someones mind sure worked over-time with these....

although if you've ever seen a duck-billed playpus or an aadvark maybe these imagined monsters don't seem quite so strange after all.

My other MONSTER MADNESS is unloved china dolls...

after saving many unloved examples from various neglectful homes i'm continuing my slow but sure mission of altering these into much loved 'children of darkness'... wether they be vampire, ghoul or zombies.

Many of these poor dears have been shut away in cupboard or placed on high shelves.... 

now with a little dark love and attention they are transformed into precious children of the night...

no longer hidden away by uncaring owners.... but given pride of place for all to see.

This little darling is  A ZOMBIE CHILD OF MINE... 

as yet she doesnt have a given name.... but she will...soon.

QUOTH THE RAVEN

Beloveds,

We are again summoned herewith to toil upon another Quest set by The Master.

 QUEST # 33....at...
QUOTH THE RAVEN is...

A BUNCH OF POEsies.

The Master doth crave floral tributes for thy current Quest, therefore thou must don FLOWERS on thy creation but still hath some connection to The Master - Edgar Allan POE.

 I altered a very shiny gold coloured frame by painting it matte black, and using a metallic lustre on it.
I just printed out a photo of POE from the internet onto canvas paper.
I made the roses from black card and rubbed them with the same mettalic lustre.

You have until the 25th of June to enter this new challenge, with a chance of winning....

IKES WORLD CHALLENGE

We would like you to make for us any creation you desire that has obvious connections to a Song or Film title... simples eh ??!

creation.

 I made a tag using one of the KOOKY-KATZ....
Inspired by the song ''Whats new pussy-cat'' that my girls sang to me nearly all the way to
Cromer after hearing it on the car radio just as we left home.... to say that i'm sick of that song is
an understatement!
I printed out Ikes image....cut it to a tag shape, wrote on the words and drew on the fish bones...
coloured it all with promarkers and pencils....
inked the edges and mounted onto black card that i then trimmed to match the tag shape.
A hole and some black ribbon to finish.

an altered board book I'm working on.

HDH MACABRE MONDAY and DOMINO 15 DAYS OF TERROR

I'm a day late with this as blogger doesnt seem to like me much.

MACABRE MONDAY's new challenge was launched yesterday

RIBBONS!!
That's right, ribbons.

No, we haven't gone soft on ya, but we have chosen to set the new
Macabre Monday theme as, "Ripped to Ribbons".
Use ribbons (and rips, if you like) somehow, somewhere, on your project.
That's it, pretty simple.
Oh, remember to make it Hallowe'en or Gothically inspired.
No sissy stuff here.

 My little box is also part of DOMINOART 's 15 DAYS OF TERROR....
Where we celebrate Hallowe'en in May.
I covered a little wooden box with designer papers,
gesso'ed two dominos and stamped the skeleton frog from de-Stampelwinkel onto them.
I stuck these with stron glue onto my box top, gave them a coat of glossy accents, and tied a ribbon around them.
You have two weeks to join us at HDH.... Hope to see you there.

My offering for this one is pretty simple,
using one of the MER-BABES from SMEARED INK. I recycled an old 5inch squre box frame....

 into a little underwater scene....

 I used 4 toned shades of acrylic paint,

promarkers to colour the merbabe, that I decoupaged to give dimension.

 I used real dried seaweed, shells, moss and sand plus some

netting, string and plastic twiggy thing!

I stamped over my painted background with silver ink on a large crackle stamp

to look like water ripples.

I made a card.... yep another card, its getting to be a bit of a habit these days....
i'm not one for kits and stuff but I saw some folks I follow in blogland using
''GOTHIC GRUNGE'' from LELLI-BOT CRAFTS.... so thought , for a change i'd
give it a go. So the image and backing paper.... which you can hardly see, are from the kit.
The flowers/leaves I also made from the same backing paper.

also its the start of a new month at
ALTERED ECLECTICS,
as always its an ALTER ANYTHING, ANYTHING GOES challenge...
so i started with this...

....and ended up with this...

I just embossed black cardstock with a folder... i think its actually a crow...
but it looks quite like a RAVEN..... adhered it to the wooden money box,
then rubbed it over with a bronze metallic wax, followed by a silver wax...
I wanted it to look like a siver-plated box that had had years of polishing so that the plate
has been worn away.
