DRAGONS DREAM .... and my NEWS

I have the honour of now being part of the Dream team.... i adore the Dragon...(Frankie) her work and her challenges.... some of you may remember i did a guest spot there over a year ago...where does the time go?
Waffling over..... we have a new challenge for you and its to be inspired by the song title 'Bed of roses' by Bon jovi, chosen by my teamie Elizabeth..... your TAG must have some metal on it and at least one REAL ( even if its just a sentiment) stamp ( as this is a stamping based challenge.... i am in heaven!)
I stamped a red tag with a large rose flourish from CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS ,embossed with black powder.... mounted this onto a slightly larger black tag.
The Rose in the upper corner, again from creative expressions was stamped 6 times and coloured with promarkers.... fussy cut into layers and decoupaged.... i added black scruffy feathers...instead of leaves.

The skeleton in the coffin is made from a recycled food container..... it was rather thick so took me nearly 2 hours to do..... i was given a notepad by my dad and step mum and this wonderful image is on the back cover..... i rubbed over it.... like we used to as kids with crayons...remember?.... then i spent 2 hours deeply embossing and de-bossing to give the effect i wanted..... i then painted it with matt black paint....once dry i buffed it up... and i am pretty pleased with the result.

I'm happy with my bed of roses.... and we'd love to see yours..... whatever your style!

I shall enter this into the following challenges

http://theshabbytearoom.blogspot.com/ INSPIRED BY THE COLOUR OF YOUR BIRTHSTONE.... mine is ruby(july)

http://lollipopcrafts.blogspot.com/ USE SOMETHING RECYCLED.... i used a foil food container.

http://phindysplacechallenge.blogspot.com/ MAKE YOUR OWN EMBELLISHMENTS.... i made everything.

Thanks for visiting me today.... please come and dream along with us.... we look forward to seeing your take on this charming theme.

TRY IT ON TUESDAY

This week at Try it on Tuesday is altered week.... and great news...it can be anything! You can alter whatever takes your fancy.... a book, a bean can.... an old jewelry box. I sanded this lewelry box down then painted it orange.... distressed the heck out of it.... then covered the flat panels with Hallowe'en paper, (that i aged and ink distressed) from my stash.

I used a Skull image from SMEARED INK .... printed it out 6 times and fussy cut it into a kind of 3 dimentional image.... and stuck it onto the back of the pull down drawer.

The bits on top come off and its still a jewelry box.....or a Hallowe'en candy box..... but i liked the idea of making it into a wizards desk.... i need to make more 'stuff'.... books and bits 'n' bobs......

The skull came out pretty well i thought.... all the fussy cutting was well worth the effort.

I hope you can find time to alter something this week...we'd love to see it. I shall enter this into the following challenges.....

Today i had a little play....and made this tag for the challenge at Dragons dream... not often i get to just do something like that....but i had a lot of 'drying time' for my Macabre Monday project.... come back tomorrow for that!.... so i did some stamping and masking .... i used 4 seperate stamps to create this scene..... 'the only way to travel'.The steampunk man is from destampelwinkel , the abbey is from Crafty individuals, the cloudy sky is Cherry pie... and i cant remember where the grassy front bits from...sorry.
I kept the colours simple.... mainly blue/pale blue and grey....plus a little green for the fore ground.

GUEST DT SPOT at CRAFTS and ME.

I have had the pleasure of being the guest designer for 2 challenges at CRAFTS AND ME this month..... and the new challenge there is LACE.
Well i'm not the lacy type really but i knew exactly what i was gonna do.... i was given this lovely CELTIC ANGEL to work with..... (you can see her better in the pictures below.)
I am a member of the SMEARED INK DT and the challenge there this week is GOTHIC NEW BORN (i cant imagine which idiot picked that theme!!!..... Oh it was me!)..... Kapree on the team is expecting a Hallowe'en baby ( a little girl.....yay!).... and i wanted to do a 'welcome' canvas for the little one.
The canvas is 18''x 10''.... i painted it... stamped wire mesh on it..... added fabric mesh... black lace.... i coloured images with promarkers/ink and paint. I made flowers from paper, fabric and an old coke can... i used silk leaves and black plaslic ones i cut off an old head band of the lasses.

Theres chains, tassels, hearts, wings so much.... and i hand cut the name at the bottom.

I have no idea whose stamp the baby image is, but its adorable! The mesh stamp is from QUOTH THE RAVEN and the wings are cut from one of the FLYING HEART digi images both form smeared ink. The window is a freebie digi from the internet.

Please come and check out the challenge at CRAFTS AND ME..... and play along at SMUDGY ANTICShttp://smudgyantics.blogspot.com/.

I coloured it with promarkers and ink.

The challenge was to have a NUMBER on it.... 381.... 3x words 8x letters 1x meaning = i love you.

MACARBRE MONDAY

Well i am finally back to myself..... i enjoyed my time with my daughters no end, its the 1st break i have had from caring for the oldies for just over a year and very much needed. The oldies went into a very nice nursing home for 2 weeks.
Before i get to the new challenge i need to anounce the winners of my candy from our 100th HDH challenge..... both winners were pick by RANDOM ORG..... SUSAN (the most organised of us minions!) did this for me as i am totally useless at that sort of thing.

OK.... the 2x WINNERS ARE........ CARLA and JODI .
PLEASE EMAIL ME AT blackdragonscraft@googlemail.com ..... who ever mails me first gets to choose either the stamp set or one of my projects.... the other then gets a choice of whats left....i hope that seems fair.
Now on to our new challenge which is...................

"Carnival of Curiosities"

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
of the creepy circus or carnival oeuvre.
Come one, come all!! Bring out your freaks, your fortune tellers, terrifying clowns,
and your most curious of curios.

Here is my project..... a travelling side show..... the images and words are from SMEARED INK.... the CARNIES rubber stamp set. The sideshow is in a frame that i painted and distressed.... the background is paper i altered with ink and stamps. The curtains can be closed or tied back.
The clowns face..... guess......... look into his eyes.....
i stamped POE from SMEARED INKS , QUOTE THE RAVEN rubber set onto tissue twice and pieced it together onto to a little china clown doll...... which i gave a full make over to.... altered its clothes and china feet.... hair etc.
I gave everything a shabby appearance.... well worn.... lots of travelling about ...not much money..... if you look closely at the top picture you'll see bottles laying on the floor.... the performers clothes have all seen better days.... and the lass with the accordian has turned to nicotine and alcohol.......
I hope you'll join us this week.... its great to be playing again....

I shall also enter this sideshow into the following challenges........

MACABRE MONDAY

Well its Monday, its Macabre ...but ..................... ITS OUR 100TH CHALLENGE......
So, to celebrate this milestone, we're going to do a few things different this week . The general list of rules still apply, so be sure to follow them to be considered for the coveted Gruesome Twosome & Master of the Macabre titles!
There is BLOG CANDY-CORN to be had this week!
Did you know that Vincent Price would've been 100 this year?!
Yes, so it is divine providence that this week's challenge is:

"Varying Visages of Vincent"

(translates to: the many faces of Vinny)
You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece

that is inspired by the TRUE Master of the Macabre, Vincent Price.
A movie, character, poem, narration, song or quote... anything that the great Vincent Price has touched can be used for inspiration. If you need a little help, HERE is a link for some images, HERE is the official Vincent Price website, and HERE is a link to a website with some audio clips.
Now, about the blog candy... Here's a pic so far:

There are rubber and clear stamps, a handful of cards created by The Masterful Mistress herself, chipboard shapes and letters, altered chipboard purse & album pages, skullies, ribbons, floss, embellishments, Distress Stickles, rub-ons... Even a cute stuffed jacko ... and much much MORE!

As we get more comments & challenge entries,
there MIGHT be more thrown in throughout the week!
AND some of the Minions will be giving away additional blog candy on their own blogs...
be sure to check them out!

The rules for entering blog candy drawing:
1. Readers shall hop to each of the Macabre Minions blogs to see their take on the challenge...
readers must comment on each of the (6) posts.
2. Spread the word about the candy corn via your blog, Twitter, whatevah. Then just comment on this HDH post with a link to the announcement about it.
3. If you play along with the HDH Macabre Monday 100th challenge, you get TWO extra chances to win... just linky up and then add two more comments. We will be selecting a Gruesome Twosome like we normally do.

I am a HUGE fan of Vincent Price... so i couldnt make just one thing....i made 3!

This is a framed mixed media piece.... the pictures i googled.... i altered a piece of DP with stamps from Cherry pie,and lots of ink. I stamped and embossed a raven, cut it out and triple embossed for extra shine.... i made 3 shrink plastic ravens using a Tim Holtz die.... i printed the name out on the 'puter... coloured it with promarkers and cut it out.... i then triple embossed it.

I made the shabby flower/rosette, added dangly feathers/beads/ and a VP centre.

The frame was painted and distressed... i love doing that!

Next up is a necklace..... made using red glass beads, bronze coloured chain/beads and findings... i made a mounted cabichon using a picture of VP from the film THE RAVEN.

This is a close up.....

and finally if you havent lost the will to live by now...is my 3rd project.... a brooch.... i make these fairly regularly..... this one has a detachable smaller brooch in the centre so it can be worn either as a BIG statement piece or just as a small VP brooch.

As we are celebrating our 100th challenge and having CANDY and GIVE-AWAYS.....

ONE lucky(...or unlucky, which ever way you wanna look at it.... )PERSON will get to chose which ever of my VINCENT PROJECTS they'd like to have.... and another REALLY LUCKY PERSON will win the wonderful............

QUOTH THE RAVEN rubber stamp set from SMEARED INK............... ITS MY FAVOURITE STAMP SET EVER!.....and quite fitting as VP was in many films of MR POE stories..... and his reading of THE RAVEN poem is heart stopping!

Now before you really do give up all hope of getting to the end of this long post....i'd just like to say THANKS for making MACABRE MONDAYS SO SPECIAL.....

............... off you go to........

Creepy Cricut Cween Donna

...................who will have something brilliant to show you........

i know cos i've seen it!

We can't wait to see everyone's take on this VIVP (Very Important Vincent Price) challenge!

Thanks for getting all the way through this post....love lynx
