SMEARED INK DAY

It's my day to post on the SMEARED INK dt blog..... and as we on the SMEARED AND SMUDGED FORUM have held an ART DOLL swap..... something i have never done before ...yeh i alter china dolls... but i'd never made a paper art doll..... i'm showing off the Mr Poe side of my doll.......
The face/head are from the SMEARED INK , QUOTE THE RAVEN rubber plate.... my favourite set!..... his body has story titles on and his limbs depict these stories to my mind.
I have distressed the edges but let it black 'n' white.http://craft-roomchallenge.blogspot.com/ THE CRAFT ROOM , has as a theme this fortnight PAPER DOLLS......so i am going to show the reverse of Mr Poe as well.................

DIFFERENT hey?

This side is painted with acrylics.... and over stamped with toning colours..... i used the swirls off the SMEARED INK GODDESS SET for those.... i made a clay face..... its a little kooky/quirky..... but i think it looks 'kind' and added gems around the face.... this side as a glittery glaze over the top....

my doll show both sides of my personality.... oneside quite dark, mysterious/and morose.... the other quite tranquil/ peaceful and hopefully kind!

MACABRE MONDAY

Its MONDAY so its gotta be MACABRE ...yet again..... and we have a great new challenge for you........................................................... Menacing Mermaids






You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
using mermaids as your main focus.
Let's see those terrifying temptresses from the formidable & foul fathoms!





This challenge had me scratching my head for ages...... but i then thought i'd make up an under water scene using stamps ............. the mermaid....ship... and drowning damsel are all from THIRD COAST http://thirdcoastrs.com/ ( I'm on the DT there now....... YAY!)


i stamped and masked my damsel.... then stamped and masked the mermaid..... then stamped the wreck.

I used a small 'tuft of grass' stamp...dont know whose.... and added some detail at the front.... i coloured my scene with promarkers and ink.

I added some bubbles with a white pen.... and then over stamped my whole scene using a large 'crackle' background stamp...(. dont know whose that is either) using snow cap white ink..... hopefully it looks like light rippling in water..... i have shown a close up pic below...... i am fairly happy with the effect.....

I mounted my scene onto green card then onto a black card base.... i used a row of DIGI skulls from DELICIOUS DOODLES.... just to add a sinister tone..... as if some poor lass drowning being watched by a mermaid isnt sinister enough!

JUNE BLOG HOP WITH THE SMEARED AND SMUDGED FORUM

Welcome to the June Smeared and Smudged members blog hop.
Our theme/challenge this month was to use something from outside/in our garden..... and of cause a stamp somewhere.
I had a play and made this shadow box..... and either made or altered all the contents..... apart from my garden salvage.... which is in the compartment with the Cheshire cat.

Theres so much stuff here.... Graphic 45 papers, paint, glimmer mists, metallic rub on paste, beads, Mad Hatter chess piece... tea pot off a caddy spoon.... cork letters.... clock charm....broken egg shells made into a mosaic (behind the sheep) chest off drawers made from a match box cut in half.... an altered cup and saucer ( was part of a set the girls had in the garden!).... then theres the salvage from the garden.... a clump of 'mind your own business'... its all over Nans garden...grows like a weed.... a twig/branch from the lilac tree.... and some of my 'pinks' that have dried out a bit..... and stamped images using SMEARED INKS 'BO PEEP' set..... i used the SKULLY FLOWERS, the FENCE and the 2x SHEEP.... i love those sheep!
The top picture shows the shadow box with everything in situ.... the photo below show the things that can be removed... REMOVED!

TRY IT ON TUESDAY

This week is tag week at T.I.O.T..... and the theme is BUTTERFLIES.
My tag is all stamped using a set called '' BUTTERFLY MEN'' but i have no idea whose stamps these are.
I mounted the image on the right on foam pads..... and the wings of my butterfly men....

I coloured everything in water colours, and darkened the edges with dark green and black ink before mounting my tag onto a slightly larger black tag....... i wanted to create a peaceful happy scene.... but with menacing undertones.... see the 'imp' watching from behind the tree?
I have also made this tag with my dear friend Frankies challenge in mind.....

Macabre Monday

Its Monday so its gotta be MACABRE ....this week we are sponsored by Kenny K and the new challenge is .......

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
that is distressed in some way.
Ripped, smudged, torn, sanded, acid-eaten, burned, mangled... you get the idea.

Heres my offering .... a 10''x10'' mixed media wall hanging.... my favourite colours.... RED 'N' BLACK.

The spider web background is sheer material over black card.

My image is on red card that i distressed with scissors and ink..... there are gems.... lace mesh...

handmade flowers.... resin flowers....metal flowers..... silk leaves that i painted black then heat embossed.... in real life they look like glass..... i stamped and heat embossed my sentiment....
used a diecut cage and raven..... my image is coloured with promarkers.... and everything is ripped torn and totally distressed!

TRY IT ON TUESDAY

We have a new challenge starting today, and again its been picked by my teamie Georgina.... as its the 1st challenge of the new month it has to be a CARD..... AND THE THEME IS........

Weird and Wonderful


............. now this was right up my street, even though i'm not usually a card maker.... i had great fun. I used stamps from cherry pie, non sequtuer, dimention forth and maybe somewhere else.... stamped and masked, coloured with promarkers.... used a digi skull on foam pads stuck over a 'fairly' normal man stamp.... matted my weird art piece onto black, then red card stock, then stuck it to my card base.
WEIRD?... OH YES!.... WONDERFUL? ....not sure this can be called wonderful..... but i had fun and i hope you can play along and have fun too.

MACABRE MONDAYS

Its Monday so it has to be time for a brand new challenge at MACABRE MONDAY, this week it is................................................... Pleasure & Pain

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
using something you love and something you hate.
Stamping, digis, a particular colour, a style, a technique... no limits!

I have made a 12''x12'' wall piece ...... mainly using ravens, but E.A. POE had to be there too.

My PLEASURE is...STAMPING.... POE...RAVENS.... GOTHIC...CREEPY..... BLACK.... you know the sort of stuff i like..... My PAIN is....matting onto SILVER MIRRI CARD.... i really dislike the stuff....yuck!!!!!

I have stamp all the images onto white cardstock with either grey or black ink.....some are masked.... some are double stamped. All the edges have been ink distressed.

The stamps are mostly SMEARED INK, CHERRY PIE and INKADINKADOO.

My piece for this hop is a 10''x10'' canvas...painted, distressed, stamped, distressed somemore.... the skull image is one i drew a couple of weeks ago for a Macabre monday challenge.... i scanned it to the puter, then printed it out 5 times and cut them all out... i layered it up decoupage fashion.
I added washers, nuts, screws, diecuts and studs to my canvas to carry on the steampunk theme of the skull.

Delicious doodles

We have a new challenge starting today..... YEY i'm on time for once!..... and its .................


TEXTURE.

I have used VOODOO WOMAN and BATTERFLY from DELICIOUS DOODLES.
I've coloured my images with promarkers, fussy cut them out. I made a tag shape from some sculpture paper i made and embossed it with a cuttlebug folder.... highlighted the raised areas with metallic rub ons and mounted it on to a slightly larger black tag.
I used a MS punch for the left hand side.... stamped and embossed the words 'time of my life' ( frankie...this is a real stamp!) onto black ribbon.... used a metal flower, some chain, a couple of flower charms and a steampunk style watch face charm....
i cut out some of the embossed screw heads and used them ...one on the batterfly......
and some screw headed brads..... i love these soooo much!
