SMUDGY ANTICS and MACABRE MONDAY

Welcome to the new challenges at two of my favourite challenge sites..... First up we have SMUDGY ANTICS..... and we have a sketch for you this week.... its a nice clean and simple one...check out the blog to see the exact sketch but heres my piece using it as inspiration....I have used all SMEARED INK images...digis and real rubber for this POE piece. I made a clay heart with dripping glass paint blood.... i stamped out my sentiment and cut off the 'N' at the begining so instead of 'nevermore' it says 'evermore'. I wanted an aged vintage feel to this piece so i used coloursoft pencils, and ink.....and of cause the usual black smudgy edges.

It would be wonderful if you could join us this week as its the last week of the current dt.... a new team of invited only designers will be announced on wednesday.... nail biting stuff!

that includes a heart and a hole somewhere on the project.

I have used the same SMEARED INK image as i did for the piece above but went for the striking red and black colour scheme for this fatbook page. A silver coloured heart charm and a piece of black ribbon, added to the black ink distressing makes for a very contempary piece.

QUOTH THE RAVEN

I am so pleased to have found so many folk who share my passion for E.A.Poe.... i used to think i was maybe a little strange.... but i now know that i at least am not alone in my strangeness.

I have borrowed the words of the eloquent Ike to announce the new challenge............
The Master was most pleased with your wondrous creations on the first Quest, in fact, he was so uplifted by the offerings of so many minions that he challenges you next to strive even further in your efforts and manufacture a creation in his Own image :-D
It may take the form of anything your little hearts desire but must contain therein his wondrous countenance.

....... thats our challenge for the next two weeks.... make something...anything.... using any thing you want to use with the Masters likeness.

My piece is a framed 12''x12'' art piece. The images are all from the internet. Stamped on and altered my me. The mount is stamped ...distressed...inked and distressed some more.
The centre piece is a small cameo of Poe in a brass bezil with mess over embossed foil card.

The frame has been painted, distressed, painted again, distressed again then rubbed over with metallic paste.

The embellishment in the corner is made from some silk leaves that i painted then heat embossed.... i love the look you get doing that.... and the flower thing i made up from other bits in my fabric scrap box.

The raven is a TH die cut.... rubbed over with metallic paste.

We have had a bit of a break over the holiday season but now we're back and we have a new challenge for you, chosen by my teamie Elizabeth and its THE BEACH.

Remember it has to be a tag and include at least one real rubber stamp.

I live a stones throw from the beach..... the most easterly point in the UK....so its the cold North sea i look out on.... but it is lovely to see the sun rise out of the sea.... quite magical sometimes.

Anyhow...enough rambling... my tag... all CHERRY PIE stamps.... coloured with water colours as i wanted a misty pastel look. Dark ink around the edges.... and mounted onto black card.

MACABRE MONDAY

Welcome to another challenge from the creepy, crazy freaky world of MACABRE MONDAY.

We had an enormous amount of response to our challenge last week , so i hope we get the same for this challenge which is......."Get Lost"

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
that includes a map. Big or small, background or main focus... let's get lost in HDH-land!
I used about 9 different map stamps to make the back ground..... coloured with distress inks and mounted onto a black card base. I then used red paint on one of the splatters from a retired rubber set from SMEARED INK and randomly 'bloodied' up my background. The main image is also from SMEARED INK..... AS DEATH..... coloured with distress inks...fussy cut and added to my background. Finally i ink distressed all the edges with brown then black ink to keep with the vintage feel.

I hope you'll have time to join us this week for this slightly less MACABRE than normal challenge.

We have a brand new challenge for you at DELICIOUS DOODLES today and its WINTER WONDERLAND.

Teri has some beautiful new images in her store http://deliciousdoodles.blogspot.com/2012/01/lycaonia.html including this one... LYCAONIA.

I printed it out twice so that i could cut one image out to use as a mask..... then stamped my scene....coloured everything with promarkers and ink.

Distressed the edges with lots of black ink and used a white gel pen to add high lights.

SMUDGY ANTICS and MACABRE MONDAY

Good morning and as its Monday i have a couple of new challenges to announce the 1st one being SMUDGY ANTICS...and our theme this week is MASKING.

Interptritate this as you please.... spray inks and masks....stamps and masks or masked images.... we like to encourage you to do something different and try something new to you.

Saying all that, what did i do? I stamped and masked.....one of my favourite things....

...i used images from SMEARED INKS, QUOTE THE RAVEN, AS DEATH and HOLY CITY rubber stamp sets and stamped and masked myself a small collage depicting the Master himself.

I coloured it with promarkers and ink, squared my piece up but cut around the skull at the front, and the angel of deaths wing, to give the piece a little interest..... as if anything with Poe on needs it :) Then mounted it on black card, then onto green that i had stamped and distressed.

The little guy on' WHAT CROWD?'.... just makes me smile.... he looks so naughty..... and full of himself!

Well the big day is finally here and if you want to know who won all the rubber stamps and 2 sets of brilliant digi images at QUOTH THE RAVEN, you'll have to pop over there and take a look.... just click on my title...it'll take you there. For our first challenge we chose RAVENS.... what else could it possibly be? So you have two weeks to create something.... anything you want.... you dont have to stamp.... it can be cut 'n' paste, digi, knitting, metal work, embroidery ANYTHING you enjoy doing...... but must have a RAVEN somewhere.
I combined my piece with the SMEARED AND SMUDGED members January blog hop...our theme for this hop is MESH.... Oh yes i like mesh.... tatty black mesh is a must!

I am sorry there are so many photographs but this shadow box is huge...well for me its huge,

about 19''x9''....... and there is a lot to see.

It is a deep frame that i altered...added little shelves.... and set about making bits for all the compartments. An altered domino, lots of tiny hand made books.... trinkets and treasures....

i have used mainly SMEARED INK STAMPS ...but the odd one from Ike... look closely and you'll see the pendant i made for HDH on monday in there.... the skeletal Raven from de-stempelwinkel....... loads of bits and pieces...ribbons made into flowers...a couple of wedding rings, candles...oh lord heaps of stuff....and tiny little skulls...Thanks Tori!

MACABRE MONDAYS

Well its been a whole week since i managed to create anything.... that is technically not true as i have made my DT piece i'm now going to show you.....but it is a week since i blogged anything... its now time for a new challenge at MACABRE MONDAY.....
You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
that uses, includes, or depicts metal in some way. You can go very literal with metal embellishments or metallic papers.Or you can use the Metal music genre for your muse, or maybe some industrial H.R. Giger type stuff.Make it dark if you dare!!We like things a bit more on the spooky side here in 'da house!
So METAL it is.....
I had a lot of fun with a digi stamp from my fellow minion IKE.... its on sale in her shop....
http://www.ikesart.com/#!__digital-art-stamps/productsstackergalleryv20=7 and traced really well on to some black coated metal. I embossed the image into the metal, then etched the details in. I matted it onto silver card then onto a black card base.
I used a MS punch on both edges of a strip of silver mirri card and added a piece of black velvet ribbon.
Yep....i made a card.... but my cards are nothing to write home about so i thought i'd also make a pendent.... i used the same black metal.....but a much smaller image....

i did exactly the same as i did for the larger image on the card.... once finished i adhered it to a pendant blank, took my time making sure all the edges were neatly folded then with metal working tools made a pattern around the edge and onto the front around the RAVEN image. I have just threaded through some double sided jewelry quality velvet..... hopefully making it into a very wearable Gothic inspired necklace.

SMUDGY ANTIC and MACABRE MONDAY

Welcome to a Goth day..... i have 2 new challenges to tell you about and both pieces i made are very GOTHIC .
First up our new challenge at SMUDGY ANTICS....... WHEELIE GOOD TIME......remember no cute.... we dont do cute.....make something.....anything.....as long as somewhere its stamped...either real rubber or digi with WHEELS ON..... easy hey?

I used one of the DEATH CAB images from SMEARED INK....and printed it onto an image from the internet.... thats as digi-clever as i get! I then stamped around the edges with a boarder stamp and used lots of black ink. I used a MS punch and a T!m holtz die....some ribbon roses, a piece of ribbon, knotted to hold an ornate cross from my stash..... i then set to work with a white gel pen to do all the high-lights on my well inked image. I matted and layered it onto silver then black card. The small close up on the right shows the detail better.

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
that uses or includes a Goth theme. Think black, lace, leather, elegance, etc.
Yeah, I know... an easy challenge..... but a good one! I have altered a box, using leather textured paper. I printed out the image that we are using as our logo on QUOTH THE RAVEN....(see blog post below...... WONDERFUL CANDY ON OFFER THERE IF YOU BECOME A FOLLOWER!.....sorry i just had to get that little plug in!) triple embossed it to make a tile..... added ribbon roses and a pretty Gothic looking piece of broken jewelry.

The ...what to put in the box? What is more Goth than a satin and lace cuff? I added ribbon, and chains....and made a brooch using the same image..... it can be removed and worn on your jacket.... or where ever you fancy! Please come and show us your interpretation of GOTH...we love seeing what you guys come up with.

The last of the 12 days of Christmas Smeared and Smudged style.

Welcome to the last of the 12 days of Christmas... where has
December gone?Am i ready for the big day...? I doubt i'd be
ready if Christmas was prosponed til july.
Todays project is a wreath that i have mad ....pinecones.... fake greenery.... bits and bobs.....plus bright orange silk flowers..... and a little tag that now needs to be laminated, but i took the photos before i did it as i always mess up and get a lot of blur.
The stamp on the tag is from SMEARED INK.... FAES.....coloured with pencils....i also used a border stamp from the same set and stamped in white ink as well as black around the edges of both sides of the tag. The word memories on the reverse is TIM HOLTZ....and i shadow stamped it.

This project is the dearest to my heart of all those i've done this Christmas.... this is for Grandad to lay on Nan's grave.... Orange was her favourite colour....( her head stone has an orange rose etched on it...)

hence the orange flowers.

11 th day of the 12 days of Christmas SMEARED and SMUDGED style,

Welcome to day 11....were does the time go? Today i just have a few altered dominos to share with you.

I have stamped them with stazon, then coloured them with markers.

Edged with gold leaf pen.

All in all i did 48 dominos.... and used two at a time to make the front and back of domino books....24 little books all told.

No two dominos have the same image on them.... and no two mini books have the same inside either.... all are totally unique.

The books are held closed with ribbons. These are just a few of the ones i made..... silly me i forgot to photograph the rest!

10th DAY of CHRISTMAS and SMUDGY ANTICS

Welcome to day #10 and our brand new challenge at SMUDGY ANTICS..... because a Christmas next weekend we have decided to run this challenge for 2weeks instead of the usual one.... the challenge this week was to be Gothic Christmas, and the challenge next week was to be Wicked Santa..... so we combined the two and came up with ......
WICKED CHRISTMAS..... How you depict it is up to you.

I did another inverted canvas.....i do so love these..... and used the totally amazing DEER SKULL from SMEARED INK's GOTHIC CHRISTMAS digi set. I printed it out 6x fussy cut and layered it up....i coloured each of the 6 images with promarkers.
My canvas is painted Dark brown and distressed with copper and black metallic rub on creme... i used german scrap to hide the staples and give it a vintage feel.
I used bits and pieces the girls and i collected on our walks to school and various bits of shop brought christmas tack.
The work JOY is painted and distressed.....look closely and you'll see a robin sitting on 'joy'..... its well hidden to see if my girls notice.

We hope you'll have time to play along with us..... hopefully this will be one of the last Christmas challenges of the year.... YIPPEE!

Welcome to day #9..... and today i have a cute little project to share with you.....

These little guys are not really Christmas stamps but i really like them so i made them little fabric hats with fur and pom-pom trims.... the santa sack is from SMEARED INK http://www.smearedink.com/ .....i coloured all the images with promarkers. I used card from my stash that i altered a bit with ink and roughed up the edges....i pierced holes in the corners and added 3 brads ,top and bottom..... a bit of glitter..... yuck, and this little FATBOOK page is complete.

Day #8 of the 12 days of Christmas SMEARED AND SMUDGED STYLE.

Welcome to Day#8 of the 12 days ...... and as nearly everything i have made this December has offended someone i thought i'd see who i can offend by depicting the true meaning of Christmas with this assemblage.
I have used the wrong side of a 14''x7'' stretched canvas. I added thick board dividers to make compartments.
I painted the whole thing in a soft suede brown to get a vintage feel..... combined with traditional greens golds and reds. The main image of the Madonna and child is a recycled Christmas card that i cut down, stamped and embossed the edges.

I used a small ornament 'faith'.... and various Christmassy bits and bobs........ that i embossed in a mixture of gold and copper embossing powers to keep to the overall colour theme.

I love natural elements at this time of year, so i have included tiny pine cones and some greenery....a miniature pale green candle on a tiny cut log..... an Angel offering a gift..... a harp type instrument..... i used a pretty sheer decorated ribbon to edge the entire canvas...as it allows the paint colour to show through.... i even used the dreaded glitter.

Sorry about the picture overload but there is so much to see.... and this took me most of the day!

I know you're all wondering ...'WHY did the dragon do this..... well my two little girls are so full of 'Mary and Jesus' i thought they might like it..... and they do...so if they're happy...i'm happy!

The end of CREEPMAS.... and the 7th Day of the 12 days of Christmas, Smeared and Smudged style.

Well this is my last post for the 13 days of CREEPMAS.....Thank you all who came by and those of you who discovered other Creepmas artists though this event i am really pleased.
Today i have made a small piece for the Pagan/Wicca folk out there..... i hope to make it part of a larger piece sometime soon. The golden Oak King, who is the light twin, rules from midwinter to midsummer. The darksome Holly King rules the dark half of the year from Midsummer to Midwinter.

I used oak leaves to symbolize the coming of the Oak king...... and the skull to symbolize the 'death' of the Holly king.

The skull is SMEARED INK..... printed out 6 times , fussy cut and layered up to become a dimensional skull.

The oak leaves are from DELICIOUS DOODLES..... the wonderful GREEN MAN image..... that i printed out 4 times...coloured and fussy cut.

At the moment this is just a small wreath....but i do have bigger ideas!

Day 12 of the 13 days of CREEPMAS

Welcome .... to day i thought i'd share with you an ideal way to present those hard to wrap CREEPMAS goodies..... Altered gift bags. I saw these red and white gift bags in the pound shop and just knew what to do with them.... as tucked away in the depths of my craft room.... affectionately known now as the tip...... i had some bright red self-stick velvet paper. I managed to get it to go through the printer..... the skull is from ANATOMY 101 by SMEARED INK......I printed it out in 3 different sizes....just so that the bags are not identical.... peeled off the backing...stuck them down.... and a quick job done. I know not everyone...in fact most people wont like them...but hey...i like them and so will the weird friends i give them to with CREEPMAS goodies in.

WELCOME today 6 of the 12 days of Christmas..... and its day 11 of the 13 days of CREEPMAS.... December is marching on at a rate of knots..... today i have one of a few cards i'll be making to show you.
I used one of the fantastic images from AS DEATH by SMEARED INK...... i kept it simple...black white and silver...the swirly background is flocked so its nice to touch.... and i 3D'd the skull as the photo below shows.... the colour of the pic below is all wrong..... sorry... I stamped(badly) the greeting.

DAY 10 of the 13 days of CREEPMAS.

Welcome to day #10 of the 13 days of CREEPMAS...... I have two tags to share with you today using creepy cute images from DILLYBEANS http://www.sillydillybeans.blogspot.com/ ...i hope i have made my dear minion friend Donna from HDH happy..... sorry i missed the stripes challenge last week.... Now those who know me, know i am not a fan of creepy cute.... but these images i really do like.... cute but quirky.... and creepy to boot.
I used lots of ink as usual..... promarkers to colour my images....die-cut letters for the words CREEPMAS...... black and green card...and red altered dp....3 snow flake brads..... and black mesh instead of ribbon.
My appologies to Megan.... the very talented lady who drew these images but the tag on the right has a 'hacked' about image..... the cute little bat boy shouldnt be in the cup, a snowman should be..... but it was just to cute...cute with a capital C.... so i cut away the snowman leaving his hands which i made into batboys feet..... i do hope Megan forgives me..... now doesnt that look better than a snowman?

DELICIOUS DOODLES, 12 days of Christmas and Creepmas

Welcome ....... today is the 5th day of the 12 days of Christmas SMEARED AND SMUDGED style, the 9th day of CREEPMAS .....and the new challenge at DELICIOUS DOODLES, which is X-TRAVAGANT CHRISTMAS.... go over board with embellies............ ......i used the wonderful 'THE WATCHER' from DD..... (printed onto patterned paper to match my surround. )I have used canvas..... but the wrong way round.... painted it and distressed it.
Made a surround to cover the staples, with dp on thick card..... i used some more dp on the inside of the frame that i have distressed with black ink..... i used an image off a Christmas card from last year..... i like to recycle....... and loads of bits the girls and i picked up near their school, plus fake greenery and berries. I stamped the word 'NEVERMORE' onto matching dp and heat embossed.

DAY 8 OF THE 13 DAYS OF CREEPMAS.

Well here i am again.... with another CREEPMAS offering. This wrapped star came from a pound shop last year and was so festive i put it in my hell-hole...ooops shed.... to alter for this year. I reused some bits off it...the fake holly leaves and gold balls.... raided the girls stash for a couple of foam snow flakes..... added more christmassy junk i had laying around.... i printed out WATCHFUL EYE digi from SMEARED INK..... click my title to go straight to him in the shop...... 6 times and coloured him with promarkers...fussy cut him out...and i do mean fussy cut..... the bottom image from the side you can see how much depth i created..... he looks pretty good in real life..... used silcone to layer it up.... and i added fluffy stuff to his hat.... my word...fluffy stuff, gold...and a touch of glitter...what is happening to me? I am getting rather christmassy...... yuck!

DRAGONSDREAM T.I.O, 12DAYS OF CHRISTMAS AND 13 DAYS OF CREEPMAS

Welcome.... we have another challenge for you at DRAGONSDREAMS and this time it was the dragon herself who chose the film title as inspiration and that is TIME CHANGER..... so more STEAMPUNK from me this week....good job its a favourite of mine..... remember to enter it must be a tag with at least one real stamp used.
Here is my piece.... dark and moody..... and i have tried to give it a christmas feel too....well sort of.
I have stamped The Madonna and child into the background on the left.... i tried to sort of fade it in with the clock faces ........so it might be there ...it might not.... ..... i coloured it with just black ink..... and used cream card stock...... i printed the words on the computer...... i hope this is christmassy enough for the 12days.... and creepy enough for creepmas....i think its quite a creepy thought really.... if you could time travel...think of all the things that might not be!

We have a new challenge for you at T.I.O.T .... its CARD WEEK..... so it has to be a card and the theme is SANTA..... the big fellow himself.
I used papers from my neglected crimbo paper stash.... and a new digi image from SMEARED INK..... KILLER SANTA. I coloured my image with promarkers cut him out ..... printed my words out on the computer.... and thats it...very easy project for today and i hope it gives my son a laugh.We hope you'll come and play along..... your santa doesnt have to be a KILLER SANTA..... we look forward to seeing your cards this week.

SMUDGY ANTICS...DAY#3 OF THE 12DAYS and DAY #5 OF CREEPMAS

Welcome to another new challenge from SMUDGY ANTICS...... this week our theme is STEAMPUNK ...ON THE DARKSIDE....... but anything STEAMPUNK IS FINE BY US!
I have tried....i do mean tried...to also make mine festive to fit in with the 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS and CREEPMAS..... they are not really creepy but they are POE....!
I made two fairly large tags using papers from CRAFT CHAOS DESIGNS.....Susans papers are fantastic..... i grunged them up even more with ink and sandpaper..... masked them and added POE's face to the largest dials on the papers..... i added SEASONS GREETINGS to both, metal gear cogs and clock hands ..... i used chain in the top holes.

I made two pairs of STEAMPUNK inspired earrings....attached them to cards to match the tags..... and used 2 small organza bags to put them in.......

......then thought these looked boring so i stamped POE on these also..... you can just see his face faintly in the photo on the right.

CREEPMAS DAY #4

WOW its day #4 already..... .... so I have made a creation today using one of Smeared Ink's new digi images, Drinking Buddy Elfette.
I had a bottle carrier just waiting to be altered and reused....and this tispy elfette just seemed perfect for the job.
I covered the carrier box in red paper that i heavily ink distressed, coloured the elfette with promakers and ink distressed her too.
I added ribbon...and a couple of christmas decs to the handle, and a red velvet ponsettia to the box top..... a bit of my sisters Christmas pressie done and dusted...yay for me!

12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS and 13 DAYS OF CREEPMAS

Welcome to the 2nd day of the 12 days of Christmas with SMEARED AND SMUDGED and the 3rd day of the 13days of CREEPMAS.

Today we the DT at SMEARED INK are having a blog hop to show you some of the fantastic new SMEARED INK WICKED CHRISTMAS DIGI STAMPS. I have the wonderful skeletal reindeer to work with, and as soon as i saw it i just knew i wanted to do with it.

I 3d decoupaged it and dipped it in my melting pot! Its a favourite of mine at the moment and this skull turned out pretty well i think.... although there was a lot of very fussy cutting to do....... i couldnt cut out the stings and lights well enough to dip so i cut them off, then cut out and coloured the lights and threaded them onto cotton and attached to the finished Skull. I had this candle stand just waiting for altering ..... so it got a vey distressed paint job.... lots of sanding back..... icicles..... cones from the lane near the school i painted to match the stand.... bits and bobs from old crimbo arrangements......

and 3 skeletons from my Halloween stash...... i put them into various poses.... and as you can see from the bottom picture i decoupaged yet another SMEARED INK skull....this one from ANATOMY 101 digi set.... 6x layers fussy cut and dipped in my pot........ i had no candles to fit this stand so i cut down larger ones and had a great time playing with them to get them to fit and drip everywhere. Today you also need to visit two memebre of the DT who aren't in the 12 days,

Today i'll introduce you to Carol.... a zombie Christmas doll..... a couple of my 'fiends'...Creepyglobug and LadyB love zombies ....and thats what inspired me to make a zombified Christmas doll.... complete with her little bag of creepmas goodies....... ......shes well wrapped up for walking in the snow....on her search for brainz.....

Her carrier bag is stamped and heat embossed in silver.... i had to get some stamping in there somewhere!

i know my dolls aren't well liked by most folk....but you have to love a zombie christmas doll...dont you?

BACK ON-LINE..... SMUDGY ANTIC and MORE!

Grab a cuppa this is a long post! Sorry i have been away so long.... my old computer finally gave up on me totally and although i brought a new one being so technically challenged its taken me a while to get going again.
We have a new challenge for you today at SMUDGY ANTICS.....POE ME..... you need to make a project inspired by the man himself or any of his work..... it must have a stamp somewhere on it ..... and we now allow any companies stamps but to win thee prize it must be a SMEARED INK STAMP........ and the prize this week is....... YEP my Poe project...... a goth cuff with a detachable POE clip....so for those of you like me with a larger hand or non-bending thumbs you can wear the clip on your jacket.... in a POE BOX. The box is topped with a tile i made using SMEARED INK stamps....Poe is masked and an image from HOLY CITY stamped over it..... then its triple embossed.

The cuff is made from black lace, velvet, and ribbon.... the clip has a copyright free image of POE and ribbon roses round it. As you can see the box and inside has black/gold ribbon trim around it.....

.... and a small trinket on the side with POE's signature ...a copy of cause!

I hope you can join us this week..... and that my POE piece goes to a loving home.

Now onto a project that i made for the SMEARED AND SMUDGED November members blog hop but couldnt post it as i had no 'puter..... it is POE again but this time STEAMPUNK POE.

This was such fun to make..... i used loads of stamps ....POE from SMEARED INK of cause ... and a set of STEAMPUNK stamps from CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS.

I frame is altered with card i embossed using one of those folder things... the back ground is a page from an old electronics manual that i stamped all over and ink distressed....

...... the bits are all from my DADS garage....... he said it was JUNK and i'd never use it..... but here is the proof...... DAD i love your JUNK....... please can i have some more?

The brass clock thing and dragonfly clock were mine..... dont know where from.

This piece is quite fitting for this weeks SMUDGY ANTICS CHALLENGE.... but i dont wanna win my own POE piece do i?

My Tag for last wednesdays DRAGONS DREAM..... the film title for inspiration is CHINA TOWN ...and the theme is ORIENTAL.

The stamps i used are all NON SEQUITUR from DE-STEMPELWINKEL.... masked/ stamped/ ink distressed and i added some flower-soft stuff to give a flat tag a little interest. I am having terrible computer issues...and i have no idea about 'puters so i'm in a real pickle.... sorry this is late but i'm lucky to be posting at all....
We have a new challenge for you today which has been chosen by my teamie AJ.... ..you are to take inspiration from the film LETTERS TO JULIET.... so we'd like to see a little romance please. I have made a stamped collage.... ladies writing letters.... pen nibs.... a lady with her head in her hands and the words are all from a NON SEQUITUR plate.... shakespeare and the ink spots are CHERRY PIE stamps, all from DE-STEMPELWINKEL.
I coloured it all with distress inks.... then distressed my edges with yet more ink.

TRY IT ON TUESDAY

We have a new challenge for you at T.I.O.T.... its TAG week so you must make a tag and the challenge is a hideous one..... out of my comfort zone by a mile and i shuddered when i was told.... the challenge is USE PEEL-OFFS.............. EEEEeeekkkkkk! I had a bit of a problem as i dont actually own any.... so i had to steal from my daughters...... even then i couldnt actually bring myself yto use them on my tags ...so i used them as masks to ink through. The full colour college tags uses the same peel-off as the black'n'white tag.....in the background.... quite different hey? The outside edge of the B&W was done with peel-offs as well...

............and i had to do a third just for the fun of it! The Poe stamp is from SMEARED INK....I coloured with ink and promarkers...added ribbon flowers...gems.... net.... victorian images, and of cause ribbon to tie the tags with.

ALTER SOMETHING.... anything your little heart desires..... now i love altering pretty china dolls and making them into ZOMBIE DOLLS..... meet MAX..... ....I know some people wont like Max..... but i hope some will appreciate the work involved in altering his face....painting him.... and making him all new clothes.
His little T-shirt has been stamped using a SMEARED INK stamp, and coloured with fabric pens.

I would be great if you can come and join us this week.... but please remember you must use at least one SMEARED INK image.... it can be either 'real rubber' or digi.... i'd love to see some really weird and wonderful alterations.

GUEST DESIGNER AT FOREVER NIGHT

Welcome ..... i have the honour of being guest DT at FOREVERNIGHT CHALLENGES this week... not sure what Poor Jamie thought of me when i said...Yes...but.... i dont do cute....so dont ask me to use the creepy cute images that everyone seems to be using at the moment.... her reply was...dont worry our theme is..... EVIL, DARK OR CREEPY.... ALL 3 IF YOU WANT....and its ANYTHING GOES....CARD, ATC ALTERED ART..... now we're talking..... so i made a shadow box.... dedicated to my hero Mr Poe...... ........ i made a faux porcelain flower..... not 1 but 2 faux porcelain skulls ( for you Donna and your challenge at SMEARED and SMUDGED)using a SMEARED INK digi..... printed out 5 times, fussy cut layers and 3D'd..... then dipped in my melting pot. I made 3 faux leather bound books (top right shelf) out of match boxes. I used copyright free images of Mr Poe and his wife (top left and bottom right) layered those and dipped them too.

I used a plastic skull....painted and distressed it and wrapped it in red fabric with skulls on to depict the film...'Masque of the red death' a poe story.... in the center(with the large faux skull) is a black cat with a bloodied knife.... depicting the story 'The black cat'.... there is also a Raven.... from the title of his most famous poem..

I also made little pencils.... added a watch.... a candle on a tiny altered plate.... a decorated domino.... with a raven and a protection symbol on.... oh all sorts of bits and bobs..... i stamped images from SMEARED INKS ...AS DEATH set.... and used them as backing paper in some of the compartments..... ...this was a labour of love for me.... i enjoyed every minute.... and hope to make another soon.... please join in with us at FOREVER NIGHT THIS WEEK..... It's Wednesday again...the weeks go so fast.... and we have a new challenge for you.... my teamie Wanda picked a film title this week ... Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium.... its jam packed full of steampunk imagery.... so lets see your STEAMPUNK..... you must make a TAG.....and use at least ONE REAL STAMP.
I stamped and masked my tag ..... coloured with ink and promarkers....i used stamps from CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS, SMEARED INK and CRAFTY INDIVIDUALS.Do you recognise my steampunk gent? Yep its Mr Poe.... combined with another stamp. I added washers and brads.... a couple of stamped name plates held on with brads for an extra bit of interest.... and a black piece of ribbon. We hope you can join in with us this week.... come on...STEAMPUNK is so much fun!

We have a new challenge for you today at T.I.O.T.... its to make an unusual shaped card....no squares, rectangles or circles.... something that bit different.
Now...me and cards..... we're not good bedfellows.... but i thought i'd give it a shot instead of sitting this one out.... as i often do with the card challenges.... i ha wanted to use this THIRD COAST dragon during the 31 days but never got to it....so with digi pumpkins from SMEARED INK heres my pumpkin patch dragon. ......coloured with promarkers.... and ink..... lots of fussy cutting and layering.... and its made an unusual shaped card.

DAY 31...HAPPY HALLOWEEN....with MACABRE MONDAY

Welcome to the last day of our month long HALLOWEEN celebration..... an amazing 31day blog hop..... including todays project i have actually made and posted 56 things for this month....... WOW! To day we have a new challenge at MACABRE MONDAY and it is.......
Heinously Haunted Houses
You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piecethat features a haunted house as the focus.This IS Haunted Design House after all :) The more decrepit, deteriorating or disturbing... the better!
I was a bit stumped by this...... but ended up making a mini album/book...... i cut 4 different house shapes from thick card and covered them with papers from my stash......
i used stamped images from loads of different companies to decorate the pages...
ribbons to hold it all together, rub-ons, a few stickers and german scrap around the roof edges.

Sorry there are so many pictures but i wanted you to see i didnt cheat and just do the front and back....i did think about it but thought i'd better be good and do a complete project as its the last day. So come on folks, we minions at HDH want to see your HAUNTED HOUSES this week.... and there is a wonderful prize from the mistress herself.

I Also today i want to share with you 2x skulls my girls have decorated for Halloween....they painted them and used stickers, stamps, gel pens and gems..... these now stand on the window sill beside the front door so the trick or treaters tonight can see them.

Welcome today #30 of the 31 days of Hallow e'en ..... i am joining in with THE WITCHES TEA PARTY, UNDER HALLOW E'EN MOON...... its also my last day as guest at DE-STEMPELWINKEL http://destempelwinkeldesignteam.blogspot.com/ so it would be wonderful if you could find time to pop over there and leave a comment...please....and its my day to post for THIRD COAST.http://thirdcoastcreativecoterie.blogspot.com/ so i'd better get on with it.....

i would have loved to have had a real witches teaparty but i thought it'd scare Grandad.... so instead i made a miniture one....

...and called it SISTERS REUNION.... the stamps are of cause from destempelwinkel.... thank you Jetske... i had so much fun making this..... the sisters are all around the table drinking tea.... little candles i had great fun making....then burning so they'd drip nicely.... i shouldnt mention that i actually set fire to the paint work... but i have just so you know that my art is dangerous!

I made broom sticks.... how else would these sisters travel? I altered tiny cups and saucers with 'witchy' words.... made a dappy looking pumpkin from clay... made a banner.... ooooh all sorts....

..... this really was so much fun to make..... there are all sorts of

little bits and pieces to look at.......

...... i hope you enjoyed my witches tea party..... i really had a fantastic time painting... stamping, modelling, making...... and i bet my tongue was out half the time just like my dappy pumpkin....

....its a dreadful habit i have when i'm concentrating..... now on to my witchy piece for THIRD COAST......

....A 12''X 12'' WALL PIECE....every stamp is available from ...yep you guessed it...THIRD COAST..... i thought i do a pretty witch piece to follow the SISTERS REUNION... using pretty witches! I used just black, green, orange and purple.... with just silver to

accent the pieces.... every piece is made into a tile.... 3x coats of UTEE.... it would make a nice wall piece if i ever do manage to have a real full size witches tea party. I shall enter the following challenges.....

Welcome to the last weekend in October.... our month long hop is nearly over.....today i have a couple of boxes to show you..... One is POE and i made it to put the Poe bracelet in that i made the other day ..... as Laura was the winner on one of the days i sponsored and she chose it.... i recycled another Poe project to decorate this box...... .....the other box has an image of me on.... oh how i wished i looked this good! Its an image that Marcus at TELLENS PLACE drew of me last year.... and i couldnt let Halloween go without using it again.....

DAY #28 of the 31 DAYS of HALLOWE'EN and DELICIOUS DOODLES.

Welcome to day#28 of the 31 days and to the new challenge at DELICIOUS DOODLES......

Good versus Evil ....Saintly Good stuff, or Ghostly Evil stuff.We are celebrating two festivals... Halloween on 31st October and All Saints Day which follows on 1st November. You get to choose which theme to follow, or you could combine them both, it's up to you!!

I went for GOOD gone BAD......
I used 3 of Teri's lovely images and cut them about to make what i wanted..... a really sassy looking Angel.... one with devilment in her eyes..... i used GRAVE YARD SCENE..... VOODOO WOMAN and PEGASUS..... i used promarkers to colour her face and ink to colour the other images and the background.
I wrote FALLEN ANGEL in gold.... and added just a few tiny gold high lights...and edged the arch shaped card in gold too.

DAY #27 of the 31 DAYS OF HALLOWE'EN

Welcome to day #27 of our month long Hallowe'en celebration.... i cant believe its nearly over.... anyhow onto todays projects..... yes i have 2 again ....the 1st is the piece i made for a bird cage swap organised by my dear friend Frankie (of Dragons dreams).... my poor swap partner has been very patient with me as this should have arrived with her about the time my Nan died....i lost september with nursing Nan in her final weeks, her death , funeral and helping Grandad come to terms with his loss and loneliness..... but here it is finally...and its in the post to her! Poor lass said she had had a look at my blog and survived! So i hope she likes my Mr Poe.... i used pages from one of my Poe books... a die cut cage, Smeared ink stamp and Raven stamp from i dont know who.... gems, drops, brads, ribbon with skeletons on.... the raven i heat embossed and cut out..... i liked the idea of Poe caged and the raven free.... inner meaning and all that..... as he was a troubled soul.
My 2nd piece is another bracelet..... i had a few of the mounts left over from another bracelet i made ages ago.... so again i used mr Poe.... stamped onto shrink plastic and sealed in the mounts... i added chain and beads.... its a terrible picture as we have bad light here with this yucky weather.... but hopefully its good enough for you to see what its like.

DAY 26 of the 31 DAYS ....dragons dream..... plus...

WARNING ....this is another mega post....
Welcome to day 26 and i'll start off with our new challenge at DRAGONS DREAMS.... this weeks film title has been chosen by my teamie Helen, PLANES TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES, So we're challenging you to make a TAG with a travel theme.....
................ my choice? A broomstick! What other form of transport/travel could i chose at this time of year? My tag is really simple.... stamped, a mask for the moon, coloured with promarkers, ink and white gel pen. The words i printed out on the computer. My usual black tag base..... easy but hopefully effective and fitting for our new challenge. Please come and dream with us this week....
Next..... its my last but one piece for DESTEMPELWINKEL......... please if you have time clink on the link in my sidebar and say 'hi' on their blog.
I made a domino book.... SAMHAIN blessings..... using 2x altered dominos and a 12 inch strip of paper that i conertina folded,

stamped on both sides..... i used a few rub-ons as well.....

...... promarkers and ink to colour my book images..... ribbon it tie my little book shut.

This was such fun to make.... i really shall make some more soon..... all the stamped images are of cause from DESTEMPELWINKEL, and as i said before the link is on my sidebar.

Finally...... you're nearly at the end now!....... we the dt at SMEARED INK have been given a KENNY K image to work with today as they're the sponsor for the 31 days today.

Heres my offering..... as you know i am not a card maker..... and we were no allowed to use other companies stamps with this image so i was rather limited..... i used the sketch from FOREVERNIGHT CHALLENGE.... papers from my stash...... coloured my image with promarkers and fussy cut her.....

I cut loads of pumpkins from a piece of my paper and used then

around my image and as embellies down the side of my card.

Sorry about the glare on the pumpkins on the side.... but they are glittered....eeeeeek! GLITTER!.... I didnt glitter them... it was glittered before i cut it up....HONEST!

DAY 25 and TRY IT ON TUESDAY.

Welcome to day 25.... and TRY IT ON TUEDAY..... where our new challenge is to ALTER SOMETHING and USE FABRIC..... so you could alter a bag or t-shirt or use fabric when you alter something.... as i have.
I have been wanting to do this shadow box all month and finally got around to it...... ....... many of the pieces i had made early..... the dragon tile in the centre.... two faux porcelain skulls in the top section.... the steampunk skull in the mount.... lots of bits..... so it was a case of painting the 'frame'....i used a distressed paint technique... and papers from CRAFTYCHAOS http://www.craftychaosdesigns.co.uk/ THE BEST DIGI PAPERS EVER!

I bound up a plastic skeleton to make him appear as if hes sort of mummified..... i've used loads of bits and pieces i have had laying around waiting......

..... a dragon i made from clay..... a few skulls i made from clay too.

....charms, a bottle........ some rolled up canvas (fabric... see? )...... a small twig with tiny skulls hanging fom it..... i made tiny bandages so my mummy would have a few 'spares'....(more fabric!) and a brooch in the bottom centre hole......

.... now as for stamps.... i have used digis from SMEARED INK.... to make the 2x faux porcelain skulls, a digi from DELICIOUS DOODLES for the brooch and on the bottle is a real stamped label but i dont know whose...sorry. I hope you can join us this week..... the full blog roll is on my side bar.

Happy Monday and welcome to day 24 of the the 31 days.... today i have a few things to share with you guys.... 1st up as its Monday its gotta be MACABRE....... our new challenge is.....

Movie Madness: Pumpkinhead

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
that is inspired in some way by that 'gourd-geous' B flick,
Pumpkinhead.
If you are one of the shameful few who have not seen the movie
(you know who you are!), then at the very least,
your project MUST include a pumpkin or a jack o lantern.
See? We know how to play nice.

I confess to being one of the shameful few who hasn't seen the movie.... and i have no intention of ever doing so! I like my horror movies in black and white.... no blood guts or gore.... and preferably with Vincent Price ,Peter Cushing or Boris Karloff in it!

I found images off the internet to make a collaged card.... a necklace and a matching box...... (if you enter the challenge this week you are in with a chance of winning them...poor you..... you can always not claim your prize..... thats happened before when i've offered up a prize.)
The necklace is 'old gold' coloured findings and chain.... asymmetrical....with pinky/peach glass pearls.... and Pumpkinhead sent into a mount at the centre bottom chain... with a flower!
The box is topped with a 'tile' i made using utee.... some acrylic and metal flowers and feathers, glitter paper ribbon.
We hope you can play along with us minions this week.... its an easy one for you 31 dayers ..... PUMPKINS!

Next up we have a new challenge for you at the SMUDGYANTICS..... http://smudgyantics.blogspot.com/ .....the challenge is LEATHER AND LACE.....plus you must use at least one SMEARED INK IMAGE.

I used POE from QUOTE THE RAVEN.....stamped onto shrink plastic and made into a flower rosette thingy..... i brought this bag in the sales this summer and decorated it to goth it up a bit!

The 3 zips have chains, beads and tiny velvet bows..... a large red crystal heart and the POE/LACE FLOWER.

I hope you can find time to play along this week... leather and lace..... I LOVE 'EM!

DAY 23 OF THE 31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN

Welcome to day 23 of the 31 days..... i have a couple of things to share with you today, the 1st is as yet just a shabby Raven flower.... i'm dithering about what to do with it.... make it into a brooch or add it to a necklace or maybe onto a lace cuff/glove? The raven image is from smeared ink and stamped onto shrink plastic.... shrunk and placed into a mount and glazed. All the fabrics are from my enormous fabric stash. My 2nd piece is all stamped and masked...using stamps from THIRD COAST. I coloured it with promarkers and ink..... not very Halloween but quite haunting i thought.

Day 22 of the 31 days and my 6th piece for DESTEMPELWINKEL

Welcome to day #23..... my 6th piece as guest designer at DESTEMPELWINKEL..... and today i have an altered paper mache skull to share with you. I used set #33 ANIMAL SKELETONS..... I stamped onto white fine grade tissue paper, i tore out my images an adhered them to the skull i had already painted off white and allowed to dry thoroughly.
When my images were completely dry, i 'aged' it in places with black and grey ink.... i glued on black gems, then gave the skull 2 coats of crafters enamel.

I wanted this skull to look similar to those amazing ancient decorated skulls.... its not as good as i would have liked but its not to bad.

I love this set of stamps.... i'm sure i'll use them for many more projects.

Day 21 of the 31 days of Hallowe'en

Welcome to day 21.... todays offering is a quick simple project.... earrings.....but 2x pairs so you dont think i am to mean!
The skull image from Destempelwinkel is stamped onto white shrink plastic.... then shrunk! (you just wouldnt have guessed that would you?) this time i did remember to make the holes before shrinking... attached with jump rings..... beads,chains , drops.... ...... quick and simple..... and light enough to wear.... i have made earrings in the past that were so heavy , if i'd have worn them i'd have had earlobes like Dumbo!

Day #20 of the 31 days of Halloween

Today i need to give you a few 'background' details........ i'll try to keep it brief so not to bore you to much.....
......" In the Early days, although we were a large family we always had plenty of love and attention.....a nice comfortable home, nice clothes, and shiny shoes..... Mother adored us all..... as the years went by our family grew..... being one of the older ones you'd think i'd get pushed to the back a bit... but no, mother showered us all with love.
Our Aunt used to visit from time to time but hardly glanced at us.... she never spoke to us directly or paid us any attention.... even if mother was dressing us or combing our hair.... she would just look at us with what i thought was disgust.
We all seemed so happy...... then one day..... one bleak and dreadful day.... we, the whole family were gathered together and entombed in a cold dark place.... baby's, young ones...old ones like myself.... no-one was spared the torture of this event.....
How long were we entombed...? I really dont know.... years probably..... then one day this summer, the bright light and warmth of the summer sun hit my face for the first time in God knows how long..... the face looking at me wasnt my beloved mother, it was my Aunt.... only this time she was smiling.... no look of disgust in her eyes.... no hint of contempt in her voice when talking to Mother about us.... Mother wanted rid of me.... us...all of us! She didnt love us anymore.... she didnt even want to keep us locked away entombed anymore. 'Take them all' she said.
'Aunt' brushed the dust of my dress and said.....'' i'll take her.... i'll take them all if you reallyare sure you dont want them anymore..... i'm sure i can find good homes for these dead dolls'
So here i am..... 'Millie'...... waiting to go to my new home.... waiting to be loved and treasured like i used to be..... until that time i'm happy to be with my Aunt BD.... who loves me and has spent ages making sure i look my most adorable... hand sewing my clothes... fixing my face and shining my shoes...... she has even made me a book .... ...............using images from SMEARED INKS ....BUILD A ZOMBIE stamp set.... pencils and a pencil case..... things i didnt have with Mother.
Would you like to see a photo of me now...?

Aunt BD says you 31 dayers will love me.... with my open lesions, sores and weeping puss spots.

I thought my old life was perfect... but i was just one of many porcelain dolls.... now i am a OOAK

Day #19 and DRAGONSDREAMS T.I.O

Welcome to day #19 of the 31 days and to our new challenge at DRAGONSDREAMS..... for the next few weeks we are using film titles as our inspiration.... this one was chosen by my teamie Elizabeth and its THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY..... think Angels and demons.... that sort of thing....... i yet again, stamped and masked.... coloured with promarkers and black ink... i used 3 x(4 if you count the bat flourishes) stamps..... and dont know when i got any of them!
The Angel at the front is ...GOOD.... the nakie lass on the motorbike is...BAD.... and the mummy is...UGLY.... although i adore him! I mounted my piece onto a black tag base... and added black ribbon... job done.... i do hope some of you 31 dayers can join us this week.... remember it must be a TAG. DAY#18 and TRY IT ON TUESDAY

Welcome to day #18 and today we have a new challenge for you at T.I.O.T.... which is .........
TAKING TO THE SKIES..... you can make anything you fancy...card, atc, tag...altered art...whatever.
Dont faint but i made a card...... actually i needed a card for a friend....so this is it...... Papers are from basic grey..... as are the chipboard embellies, letters and swirly thing in the corner. Everything is heavily distressed with black ink.... i've used black cardstock as the base... to mat my image and 'strips'. The image is from Destempelwinkel...coloured with promarkers and lots of black ink. I think its ok for the 31 days.... but if you guys disagree please just say.

Welcome to day #17 and as its Monday we have a new challenge for you at HDH.. and it is.................................."Lurid and Looming Landscapes"

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
that uses, includes or is inspired by a landscape scene.Think cemetries, fields, lakes, abandoned battlegrounds.Remember, the Minions and the Mistress prefer things more on the scary and creepy side.
I made a wall hanging... all very basic.... stamped, masked, coloured with promarkers and ink.

I used stamps from Destempelwwinkel... except the lady , and shes from Third coast.
I hope this is creepy enough for 31 days of Halloween.... i ran out of creating time.... this took ages.... i know it doesnt look it...but honestly it did!

DAY #16 of the 31 Days of HALLOWE'EN

Welcome to day #16 of the 31 days........ today i have 2 x bracelet boxes to share with you..... using FREEBIE IMAGES ..... from IKES WORLD..... click on my title to go to her blog...(she's also one of the 31day bloggers so the link is also on my side bar.) I covered 2 x boxes with scrap bits of card..... distressed them of cause..... i distress everything!
I coloured my 2 images with promarkers..... and lots of black in.
I cut them to the required size and mounted them onto very strong card.

I then coated them with 4x layers of utee to make them into tiles.

I punched holes in the corners to that i could attach them to the boxes using brads.... i am always worried that tape or glue isnt quite up to holding these tiles in place....... and covered the inside of the lids with card to match the boxes so that the brad-ends arnt on show.

DAY #15 of the 31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN.

Welcome to day #15.....very simple Saturday.
Today i have 2 projects to share with you.... the 1st is a simple ATC that i was quite please with.... conisering its a scrap of paper i cleaned my brayer on! I stamped onto my 'background' birds and atree from Destempelwinkel....added some detail with a black pen and a white gel pen... and thought 'thats not to bad'! Next up as the ATC is a bit of a cheat...... is a cute altered tin.... when i saw this paper i thought of a fellow minion of mine.... Creepy glowbug.... who makes adorable creepy cute skullz.... and this paper looked similar....

..... i covered the tin sides with the afore mentioned paper.... distressed it..... stamped 'trick or treat' on a tag.... added ribbons.... and made a flower type decoration that i made to match.

Very simple..... one of my girls really wants it for her packed lunches for school.

Day #14.... DELICIOUS DOODLES...and 4th GDT @DESTEMPELWINKEL

Welcome to day #14 of the 31 days and to the new challenge at DELICIOUS DOODLES.... which is...HALLOWEEN but NO ORANGE.

I used the wonderful grave yard scene and one of Teri's 'dark' ladies.... to make this piece i called Haunted. I coloured with promakers and my usual copious amounts of black ink to distress the edges. I used a MS punch with blue card stock then mounted it all on to a black card base.

I think shes stunning....... and with the grave yard scene just lovely.

DAY #13 of the 31 DAYS OF HALLOWE'EN.

Welcome to day #13 and today is my day to post on the THIRD COAST DESIGNERS BLOG....
i thought i'd do something....... CUTE...... yes i just used the dreaded 'C' word..... after my dark humour yesterday.
I have had this cat shaped clock laying around begging to be altered for ages.... it was PINK and GLITTERY..... one of my twins loved it as it was..... poor girl hates it now!
I painted it black, then painted the outside edge with orange, green and purple paint....once dry i added a little detail in black..... my 2 THIRD COAST IMAGES..... the little lass and the cat .... are coloured with promarkers..... and can be found in the on line catalogue .........http://thirdcoastrs.com/products.ht ....the background is from a photo-real paper pad...DCWV.... i think..... and the words and ghosts were just cut from a scrap of paper from my stash..... you can see what time i finally got this photographed this morning.... the clock is working!

Welcome to day #12.... and today its a new challenge at DRAGONS DREAMS.... we have been using song titles as our inspiration these last few weeks and this week is the turn of our illustrious leader to chose.... Frankie picked TICKET TO RIDE...by The BEATLES..... so this week we want to see a ticket(s) on your TAG.... it must be a tag and have at least one real stamp on it. I went for the dark humorous .... ok in my case sick humorous... sorry Nan!...... i used stamps from various companies but the main image (death and pumpkin) are from THIRD COAST.
I coloured this with water colours and plenty of black ink around the edges..... i used my MS drip punch (i trimmed the drips abit) for the grass in the foreground..... the hand coming out of the ground is clutching its return ticket with Death watching on..... well i thought it was funny!

Day #11 ....TRY IT ON TUESDAY

Welcome to DAY #11 of the 31 days of Halloween.... and our new challenge over at TRY IT ON TUESDAY.... this week is TAG week.... so you must make a tag.... and our theme is .........
PEACE AND TRANQUILITY....... its a broad theme really.... what do you find peaceful? Whats your idea of tranquility?

Mine is a moonlit cemetary, beside a lake....with hills in the distance....(i come from suffolk.... we have NO hills!).... and the ravens of cause, being the carriers of the recently deceased.

My tag is simply stamped...i drew in the lake and hills...coloured with promarkers and darkened with grey and black ink.

I hope its Halloweeny enough to count..... after yesterdays mammoth post i needed todays to be just the ONE!

DAY #10.... macabre monday, smeared ink and de-stempelwinkel....PHEW!!!!

Well folks this post is for everything listed in the post header.... if you are a hopper just leave a generic comment at the bottom.... i'd hate to bore you to much!
1st up is my piece for SMEARED INK..... the new challenge is BLACK BIRDS....remember to enter you must use at least one SMEARED INK stamp.
This is a 10x10 inch canvas collage....i used stamps from QUOTH THE RAVEN.... AS DEATH and DEAD CITY.
I painted the canvas cream although it looks fairly white in the pics...it isn't.

Next..... as its Monday its gotta be MACABRE MONDAY..... our new challenge is GODS and MONSTERS.....use mythology to inspire your art piece this week..... and dont forget...we dont want CUTE... no, no ,NO!

I made 3 tiles..... (to be used at a later date for something)..... the images are from DOVER publications...coloured with promarkers ....mounted onto very sturdy card, the triple embossed with utee.

I chose to do , DRAGON (of cause...i love them!), GORGON and CYCLOPS.

Finally today is my 3rd day as guest designer at DE-STEMPELWINKEL.... I altered another box.... i used basic grey papers....

black organza ribbon....lots of ink.... and a wonderful skull stamp from...you guessed it... DE-STEMPELWINKEL

The faux porcelain skull is made from 5 stamped images.... fussy cut.... (cutting various bits away for the different layers to give it a 3D appearance).... layered up with silicone.... then dipped in utee in my melting pot.....

I dipped a metal heart in as well and stuck them together whilst still hot....... i liked the effect so much that i made a matching necklace..... using some pandora style beads and black organza ribbon.

....here you can see that the skulls really do have dimention and look darned good.... the are really hard and durable.... i wouldnt recommend getting them wet though..... but as a 'party' piece of jewelry they are wonderful.

Day #9 of the31 DAYS OF HALLOWE'EN

Welcome to day #9 of the 31 days of Hallowe'en.
For months... nay.... a couple of years... i have had this wine box waiting to be altered.... finally i got around to it.... i sanded it..... painted it a neutral sort of 'Kraft' brown colour.... i used Tim Holtz papers to cover the outsides.... once dry i sanded the papers and further distressed with ink. I also distressed the painted wood the same way. I stamped around the image on the slide up/out door with the mesh stamp fron 'Quoth the raven' rubberstamp set from Smeared ink. Inside i have stood a bottle of 'Sloe gin' as there isn't a bottle of wine in the house..... the list of bloggers, as always is on my sidebar.... i'm sure you'll find no end of inspiration.

Day #8 of the 31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN.

Welcome to day #8..... i have altered another bracelet box..... althought this time its a little naughty..... ' she's nakie' ...as my little girls would say! I have used 'lady on ice' from DIMENTION FORTH.... masked her,and used trick or treat stamps from INKADINKADOO. I made my composite image into an 8cm x8cm tile by coating it with 4 coats of utee.... its held on to the box using gem brads. The box is covered with Basic grey papers... heavily distressed with black ink and a green ribbon tied around it to finish it off. You can see the image better below.... i had trouble with the light reflecting off the utee surface.... i coloured the lady with promarkers and the background with inks.

We have a new challenge for you today over at DRAGONS DREAM..... it is my turn to pick.....we are having song titles as inspiration at the moment and one of my favourites is 'Whole of the moon' by The Waterboys. My take on this is plain black stamping onto white card.... mounted on to black, then onto silver that has a MS spider web punched edge.... mounted onto a mini black tent fold card. Day #2 of the 31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN

Well its DAY #2 and my offering today is much more 'me' than the cardmaking from yesterday.. ....an altered bracelet box.... the papers are Basic Grey and the scary pumpkin is a stamp from THIRD COAST...coloured with promarkers... a bit of ribbon, a charm, and 3 furry brads.... soooo nice to touch!
Because i havent had a chance to finish the bracelet to go in the box....i'm also sharing with you an ATC.... i have titled 'Dispair'

..... all the stamps used are DE-STEMPELWINKEL.... its just stamped and masked coloured with promarkers and ink. Its not really Halloween but its therapy for me.... putting emotion into pictures..... its what i do!

I shall try to finish the bracelet tonight ( we,Girls, Grandad and i, are spending the day at my Dads....its been over a year since we have been there as we couldn't get Nan into a car.) so pop back later if you wanna see it..... or have a look tomorrow when i have day #3 to share with you.

Well OCTOBER is finally here , and after an awful September i am hoping to have a stressfree month.... YEH RIGHT!

Today is the start of the huge and i do mean HUGE 31days of Halloween hosted by SMEARD INK and the SMEARED and SMUDGED forum..... you can find links for these on my sidebar....
also today is WORLD CARD MAKING DAY 2011.
As you may already know ...i am not a card maker.... i make lousy cards, but i'm kicking off with not one but two (lousy) cards.... with the saying SAMHAIN BLESSINGS.
I have used two of the most beautiful WITCH images i have seen.. and kept the cards simple...black green and silver.... MS punches, a bit of ribbon, gems, and promarkers to colour my images.

My NAN..... 24.02.1919 - 18.09.2011

I have to apologies to all the DT's i'm on, the S&S forum and the yahoo groups i belong to.
Last Sunday my precious Nan died..... at home, in my arms just as i promised her she would. I am completely lost without her.... as is my dear Grandad.... they had known each other since they were ten.... 1929..... married in 1943 ( 68yrs ago)
This picture was taken 6yrs ago this very month.... Nan is holding one of my twin girls who were 3mths old at the time..... Nan looked so happy and well then..... the following year in September she had a bi-lateral brain hemorrhage....... i started to care for her (and Grandad, who already had dementia) on the 1st of December on her discharge from hospital.... i brought her home then to die..... she amazed doctors and specialists with her recovery..... although she never walked or even stood up again , she did brilliantly..... then last summer she developed Alzheimer's...... and by September last year she was unable to do anything for herself...... but she survived a year..... she was the best, most generous, most wonderful Nan in the whole world..... and i love her so much. Nan's funeral is on Friday (30th September).... this is my only post this week..... i shall post again for the start of the 31days of Hallow e'en although i dont seem to have any mojo at all.

Nan.... i love you.... i miss you.... and i dont know how i'll live the rest of my life without you.

Hi everyone! I hope your week is going wonderfully so far. Today we'd like to share with you that Smeared Ink is releasing some more Halloween images! To celebrate, of course we have to have a new release blog hop!
I was given Carina to play with.... and i used the large group of pumpkins from the 'Pumpkin patch' digi set as well.

I coloured my images with promarkers.... the backing papers are Basic grey.... that i inked and distress.... the words come from another sheet of paper i had in my stash but i dont know whose that is...sorry.

I added a few gems... thats a WOW for me.... but i think they look ok.

DRAGONSDREAM TAG IT ON

Our new song inspired challenge has been set this week by my teamie Wanda... and she's chosen DEDICATED FOLLOWER OF FASHION..... so please create a tag, with at least one real stamp , on the theme of FASHION.
Now anyone who knows me knows i do not follow fashion.... i know nowt about whats in and whats not...if its black i like it...if its not i dont....easy as that!
I decides to go quirky this week.... (and heaven forbid.... Frankie please dont banish me to outer Mongolia just yet) and used an OCTOPODE image.... same image twice up in two different sizes.... i used the larger head on the smaller body, and the larger heart off the dress to make a hat.
I used bright yellow card and used real rubber stamps from NON-SEQUTUER , now at DE-STEMPELWINKEL.... the link is on my side bar....to make my nonsense background..... script and chess pieces from their ALICE SCRABBLE SET..... i inked it and put faux stitching around the edges... mounted it on red then blue card.... my image is coloured with promarkers.
I stamped some more chess pieces and cut them out, mounted them on card and 3D'd them... i wrote out my wording... chopped it up and mounted it on card.... it says....
THE HEIGHT OF FASHION IS TO HAVE A VERY LARGE HEAD AND A VERY SMALL HAT.
I finished off with a few gems and a lovely red ribbon.

SMUDGY ANTICS

We have a new challenge for you today..... its a goodie too! It is.....PAINT!

One of our favorite mediums! Splosh it, drip it, spread it around, or water it down...just use it and you're good to go! Remember you must use at least one SMEARED INK IMAGE for this challenge.... RUBBER OR DIGI.... we dont mind!
Now i have gone all VINTAGE..... Girly Vintage at that..... i know i am going to get my leg pulled by some.... but i just had to 'go with the flow' on this one.... and my mojo is .... shall we say.... on vacation? Or just in hiding?
I painted a quaint little box dark brown, when dry i coated it with a thick coat of pva glue and as it was just tacky i painted over it with antique cream paint.... i let it dry over night and i had this lovely cracked, distressed vintage look.... its one of my favourite techniques with paint.... quite impressive but oh so easy.

I put gems around the lip of the lid.... bling! and not black bling...pretty girly bling! I used some fabric to make ruffles and leaves..... silk leaves i heat embossed....very carefully.... i have had them shrivel up to nothing in the past..... ribbon roses, and lovely sheer ribbon bow.... a couple of beaded pins....and a silver coloured butterfly.

The cameo is a SMEARED INK IMAGE..... from the SMITTEN digi collection..... shes coloured with promarkers and triple embossed for a glass like shine.

I made the circle frame from 4 layers of card... 4 circles of decreasing size with the centres cut out of the smallest 3.... i layered them up stuck them together then painted them the same way i did the box.... but started with cream.... then pva, then brown.

Macabre monday

Its Monday so yet again its time to be Macabre..... and our new challenge is....

Here is my offering ..... i went with Pride in the guise of vanity.
I used 2 THIRD COAST STAMPS..... and put them together..... the lady gazing at herself in the mirror but the devil look back..... Vanity, pride call it what you will.
My coffin shaped tag is coloured with promarkers and ink.

SMEARED AND SMUDGED MEMBERS BLOG HOP

Some of you may know i am a member of the Smeared and smudged forum.... a great place to 'hang out' if like me you like GOTHIC, DARK, MACABRE, VINTAGE or any of the styles of art other than cute.... we do not do CUTE!

I (roughly) used the sketch from this months forum card sketch challenge..... all the stamps apart from Poe come from CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS..... its all coloured with 2x shades of blue ink and 2 x shades of brown ink.... lots of distressing.... washers, screw head and plain head brads.... brown and blue card stock.... thats it.... but i am actually rather pleased with the new Poe.... i may use him like this in the future.

DRAGONSDREAM

This week we are continuing with our song titles as inspiration theme, and have a challenge set by my teamie Helen.... shes a huge Liverpool supporter.... so chose a song to match her favourite teams colours..... RED RED WINE, by UB40...... which means we want to see lots of RED on your tags this week.
I used a CRAFTY SECRETS stamp set that has been unused in my craftroom for.... well it must be 2 years at least..... i keep meaning to alter a wine box for my Dad, but it never gets done. I stamped onto some DP....( moulin rouge) coloured my images with colour soft pencils..... and inked all the edges in 3 shades of red. I then stamped another 4 bottles, 3 glasses and quite a few grapes/leaves.

These i coloured with pencils , then fussy cut... and used foam pads to add depth to my tags.

I then used red and grey ink on a course sponge and gently dabbed over the 3D images to blend them in.

I finished off by using slightly larger red tags to mount my image tags on and fine red ribbon.

I know i'm greedy but i couldnt decide which to show... so i'm showing both!

I hope you can find time to play along.... you dont have to do red wine.... just RED..... but whats better than a little red wine.....?

We have a new challenge for you and its.....

"P.M.S. Psychotic Miss Silver"

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
that uses or includes an angry/crazy/psychotic woman and silver.
We've all been there. Some weeks are better than others. Make her crazy. Make her angry. Make her silver. Well, not literally, but use silver somewhere on this project.

This is my project..... i have used 3x SMEARED INK images (2xrubber and 1x digi) 2x CRAFTS AND ME rubber stamps and a DELICIOUS DOODLES digi image. .... and of cause CHERRY PIE stamps to make up the background.
I also used MS graveyard border punch, promarkers and distress inks to colour, and silver miri card as well as black card stock for the base. I finished it off with some black gems, silver rub on metallic paste and little metal flowers i made, with punched leaves.

I looked up PSYCHOTIC......
1.depressed mood most of the day nearly every day
2.noticeably increased or decreased sex drive
3.loss of interest or pleasure in all, or almost all, activities most of the day nearly every day
4.significant weight loss or weight gain, OR decrease or increase in appetite nearly every day
5.insomnia OR hypersomnia (sleeping excessively) nearly everyday
6.psycho motor agitation (moving more quickly) OR retardation (moving more slowly) nearly every day, so much that other people notice
7.fatigue OR loss of energy nearly every day
8.feelings of worthlessness OR excessive or inappropriate guilt (which may be delusional) nearly every day (not merely self-reproach or guilt about being sick)
9.diminished ability to think or concentrate, OR indecisiveness, nearly every day
recurrent thoughts of death (not just fear of dying), recurrent ideas about suicide without a specific plan, or a suicide attempt or specific plan for committing suicide
10.delusions or hallucinations
11.increased and intense daydreaming

....... and maybe ..... i am! I have tried to convey as sense of sadness and desperation (hence the tears) as well as the self serving smirk on the nearest images face and the aggression that the women with guns portray. Deep? Very DEEP! Thats how i'm feeling at the moment.... very mixed emotions going on in my head..... normal maddness will resume shortly..i hope!

DELICIOUS DOODLES IS BACK.............

SMUDGY ANTICS..... HURRY...HURRY....

We have a great challenge going on the SMUDGY ANTIC blog at the moment...... so hurry, hurry, any of you who like to do something that little bit different..... as the theme is........

UP IN FLAMES

We're going to let you play with fire this week! Channel your inner pyro and burn, singe, or scorch a project. Or, take the challenge and use it as a theme, it's your choice.

I played with my 'burnie' tool..... and a lighter ( for the latter i did stand at the kitchen sink as i wasnt sure how quickly this old veneer would burn!)

I used the rubber set LONELY BOY, from SMEARED INK, stamped using very pale grey( i just wanted to be able to see the image) onto oak veneer ( borrowed from my grandads shed.... he used to do marquetry) cut to atc size.

I then burned all the line detail in using my 'burnie tool' with a fine point attached.... then i tried to shade in some more detail using a small ball tip...... the one of Lonely boy...alone.... sounds strange hey?.... i painted around him with cream acrylic.... as i'd boobed a bit with some of the lines.......

....and i painted in all the whites of the eyes as the oak was to dark for eye-balls.

When i'd done with my little tool.... i stood at the sink and used the lighter to burn the edges.... this wood has to be nearly antique.... it burned so fast.... glad i was at the sink!......

It would be great if you could come and join in this week but be quick...times running out!.... and somewhere on your piece you must have a SMEARED INK IMAGE....either digi or rubber.... either will do.

DRAGONS DREAM .... and my NEWS

I have the honour of now being part of the Dream team.... i adore the Dragon...(Frankie) her work and her challenges.... some of you may remember i did a guest spot there over a year ago...where does the time go?
Waffling over..... we have a new challenge for you and its to be inspired by the song title 'Bed of roses' by Bon jovi, chosen by my teamie Elizabeth..... your TAG must have some metal on it and at least one REAL ( even if its just a sentiment) stamp ( as this is a stamping based challenge.... i am in heaven!)
I stamped a red tag with a large rose flourish from CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS ,embossed with black powder.... mounted this onto a slightly larger black tag.
The Rose in the upper corner, again from creative expressions was stamped 6 times and coloured with promarkers.... fussy cut into layers and decoupaged.... i added black scruffy feathers...instead of leaves.

The skeleton in the coffin is made from a recycled food container..... it was rather thick so took me nearly 2 hours to do..... i was given a notepad by my dad and step mum and this wonderful image is on the back cover..... i rubbed over it.... like we used to as kids with crayons...remember?.... then i spent 2 hours deeply embossing and de-bossing to give the effect i wanted..... i then painted it with matt black paint....once dry i buffed it up... and i am pretty pleased with the result.

I'm happy with my bed of roses.... and we'd love to see yours..... whatever your style!

TRY IT ON TUESDAY

This week at Try it on Tuesday is altered week.... and great news...it can be anything! You can alter whatever takes your fancy.... a book, a bean can.... an old jewelry box. I sanded this lewelry box down then painted it orange.... distressed the heck out of it.... then covered the flat panels with Hallowe'en paper, (that i aged and ink distressed) from my stash.

I used a Skull image from SMEARED INK .... printed it out 6 times and fussy cut it into a kind of 3 dimentional image.... and stuck it onto the back of the pull down drawer.

The bits on top come off and its still a jewelry box.....or a Hallowe'en candy box..... but i liked the idea of making it into a wizards desk.... i need to make more 'stuff'.... books and bits 'n' bobs......

The skull came out pretty well i thought.... all the fussy cutting was well worth the effort.

MACABRE MONDAY

Ok, macabre fans... your challenge this week:
"I Was Framed!"
You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
that uses or includes frame somewhere in your creation. Alter a frame, create a frame, use a stamp that has a frame or create something that uses a frame. Easy peasy pimple squeezy!

This is the little Hallowe'en 3 drawer chest i altered for this challenge.... now i'll be brutally honest and say that when i was told we had a sponsor this week i thought ...'Oh NO...CUTE!.....and i'm not a cute fan.... not even creepy cute...... it leaves me cold..... but.... i was surprised.... NO ...i was amazed.... i found that i really....REALLY ... liked these images.... so much so i now have a wish list!!!

and honestly you need to check out her shop.... the images are quirky almost zetti .... and i am now a huge fan!

I took my little chest of drawers back to 'bare'... painted it purple and green... then covered it with paper (that i coloured some of the circles to match my coloured image with promarkers)... i sanded and paint distressed all the edges. I coloured my image (with promarkers) then scanned it in the puter and printed 3 small ones and one larger one out.... the larger one i fussy cut and decoupaged to the drawers.... the others are one the sides and top.

Below is the image i coloured and scanned.... you can see my outer edge shading went a bit out of the lines..... Hey-ho!

I think its just so quirky..... love her!

Today i had a little play....and made this tag for the challenge at Dragons dream... not often i get to just do something like that....but i had a lot of 'drying time' for my Macabre Monday project.... come back tomorrow for that!.... so i did some stamping and masking .... i used 4 seperate stamps to create this scene..... 'the only way to travel'.The steampunk man is from destampelwinkel , the abbey is from Crafty individuals, the cloudy sky is Cherry pie... and i cant remember where the grassy front bits from...sorry.
I kept the colours simple.... mainly blue/pale blue and grey....plus a little green for the fore ground.

GUEST DT SPOT at CRAFTS and ME.

I have had the pleasure of being the guest designer for 2 challenges at CRAFTS AND ME this month..... and the new challenge there is LACE.
Well i'm not the lacy type really but i knew exactly what i was gonna do.... i was given this lovely CELTIC ANGEL to work with..... (you can see her better in the pictures below.)
I am a member of the SMEARED INK DT and the challenge there this week is GOTHIC NEW BORN (i cant imagine which idiot picked that theme!!!..... Oh it was me!)..... Kapree on the team is expecting a Hallowe'en baby ( a little girl.....yay!).... and i wanted to do a 'welcome' canvas for the little one.
The canvas is 18''x 10''.... i painted it... stamped wire mesh on it..... added fabric mesh... black lace.... i coloured images with promarkers/ink and paint. I made flowers from paper, fabric and an old coke can... i used silk leaves and black plaslic ones i cut off an old head band of the lasses.

Theres chains, tassels, hearts, wings so much.... and i hand cut the name at the bottom.

I have no idea whose stamp the baby image is, but its adorable! The mesh stamp is from QUOTH THE RAVEN and the wings are cut from one of the FLYING HEART digi images both form smeared ink. The window is a freebie digi from the internet.

Whilst i was away.... it seems soooo long ago now.... i thought i had auto posted my 1st guest piece for CRAFTS AND ME.... but because i am an idiot....see post below to confirm this!.... it didnt work.... so you can see it below.... its another wall piece.... i used the same angel, a DELICIOUS DOODLES celtic frame and cherry pie stamps for the scene i created.

I coloured it with promarkers and ink.

The challenge was to have a NUMBER on it.... 381.... 3x words 8x letters 1x meaning = i love you.

I triple heat embossed the numbers hearts and word in blue then stamped into them with chocolate brown.

TRY IT ON TUESDAY

I am totally useless at anything hi-tech and still havent mastered doing a timed post..... as this goes to prove! I thought it was done for yesterday but ....hey it was still unpublished!
This weeks new challenge at TRY IT ON TUESDAY is a HANGING.
I made this wall piece using THIRD COAST STAMPS, GOTHIA....http://www.thirdcoastrs.com/ ... coloured with promarkers. I used recycled card to make the frame/mount.... painted it and heavily distressed it. I added black bling.

Handmade fabric flowers.... i used silk, tuille and mesh... pearl brads (i coloured with promarkers to match) are in the centres. I added a spider... i hope that counts as an insect!....although i know itstechnically not!!!
